About IPTI

ASME-International Petroleum Technology Institute (IPTI)

IPTI was founded to provide mechanical engineers working in the areas of Petroleum, Natural Gas, Petrochemicals, Coal, Oil Shale, and others with the opportunity to participate in technical workshops and conferences while fostering the continued growth of engineering education and promotion of mechanical engineering as a career choice. 

IPTI is comprised of three ASME technical communities the Petroleum Division (PD), the Pipeline Systems Division (PSD) and Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering (OOAE).

IPTI Mission

IPTI takes a leadership role in the transfer of technical and other information to engineers, worldwide, in industries developing energy sources, converting them to basic raw materials and fuels, or designing products, materials,systems or services used in these industries; including Petroleum, Natural Gas, Petrochemicals, Coal, Oil Shale, and others.

IPTI through its resources of information and member- volunteers, organizes and conducts technical conferences and workshops, fosters continued growth of engineering education, offers technical fellowship, promotes petroleum mechanical engineering as a career choice, and provides career development activities for engineers.

In addition to being one of the world's largest technical publishing operations, it also holds technical conferences, provides professional development courses, and sets industry and manufacturing standards.
