Manufacturer Competition Helps All Of Us
by Todd Fratzel Competition Sparks Constant Stream of New Tool Technology Over the past two weeks I had the pleasure of visiting the folks at DEWALT and Bosch for their annual Media Events. The thing that really resonated with me after flying home was the amazing pressure on manufacturers to push their research and development activities to keep up with their competition. Ultimately this frenzy of competition benefits each and everyone of us. Tool Autopsy Many of you may not realize how intense the battle is. For example on a recent trip to one of the tool manufacturers we learned that the minute another competitor’s tool hits the market they buy it and do an “autopsy” or sorts back at the lab. Tools of the Weird: World’s Oldest Multi-Tool?
by Bryan WrightSwiss Made it Red but Romans Made it First The photo of this tool has been the desktop wallpaper on my laptop for months now, because…well…I’m a geek like that and because this tool contains so much sheer awesome I was hoping some of it might rub off on me. Using pre-drilled holes to attach a clamping strip, the Trim Router Table can easily be clamped to almost any horizontal surface: a table, bench, a piece of plywood, or even the tailgate of a pickup truck. The table also includes a 1/4″ thick acrylic base that’s pre-drilled to fit most popular compact routers, providing a stable connection between the table and the router. Routers may also be detached from the Trim Router Table in seconds to use the...
