Exclusive: Supernatural Stages Buffy Reunion With Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters!
filed in Spoilers, Supernatural

The CW’s Supernatural aims to slay you by reuniting Buffyverse alumni Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters — aka Cordelia and Spike — in one of its Season 7 episodes, TVLine has learned exclusively.

What’s more, the two actors, who previously worked together both on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its David Boreanaz-fronted spin-off Angel, will be playing husband and wife on the spooktacular drama, which launches its new cycle on Friday, Sept. 23, at 9/8c. Watch for this glorious genre-gasm to come in the new season’s fifth episode, titled “Shut Up, Dr. Phil.”

“This episode is ‘Bewitched gone wrong,’” reveals showrunner Sera Gamble. “[It was] all upside for this successful man (Marsters) while he was married to the witch (Carpenter), but now that he’s pissed her off, the whole town is paying the price.”

Comic-Con Interview: Jensen Ackles Talks Supernatural Season 7
filed in Interviews, Spoilers, Supernatural

This morning at the Comic-Con International in San Diego, KSiteTV and many other media outlets participated in roundtables involving members of Supernatural’s cast and crew.

You’ll be seeing those interviews – as well as interviews regarding other series – throughout the week, but for now we share what Jensen Ackles – aka Dean Winchester – had to say about the show’s upcoming seventh season, which premieres in September on The CW. Jensen’s directing the third episode of the new season – an episode that was shot first in the Season 7 production schedule.

Be warned there may be some spoilers within.

What can you tell us about what it’s like to be directing again?
It will be Episode 3 when it airs, but they graciously let me direct it first, so I could prep without having to work on an episode [at the same time].

Being the second go-around, I thought it would be a little easier. I thought the knowledge that I learned last year would kind of parlay into something that would be making it a little lighter load for me, but it proved to be just the opposite of that. I think the more I learned, the more that I realized that I had to deal with. I think last year, there was a bit of ‘ignorance is bliss,’ and not to mention they help you out. Not to mention last year, I think the script that they gave me was a lighter script. It wasn’t quite as heavy in the technical aspect of directing. This year, they flung me into the deep end. To give you an idea, normally in one of our scripts we have between 40 and 50 scenes. I had 78. So there was a lot going on.

What can you tell us about this season?
Nothing. Actually, there’s a shock collar around my ankle that’s — [makes zap noise].

I think we know from last season, that obviously there’s a big shift in the character of Castiel. That proves to be a big, big problem for the guys. Not only has this all-powerful being appeared, but it’s also taken away their only ally that they really had in that realm. With that transfer of power, there’s also a big fallout of that, because without giving away too much, due to that aspect of this new God, there’s released an evil that the boys have no idea how to handle. There’s no lore to tell them what to do. There are no books written about it. There’s no hunters that have ever dealt with anything like this before. And that’s going to basically render them completely helpless, because all of the tools of the trade that they’ve used over the past six years, or all of their lives, are pretty much useless.

That’s going to be interesting. I’m anxious to see what they come up with.

Supernatural at Comic-Con: Sam’s Sexy Flashbacks, Castiel’s God Complex & the Return of Fan Faves
filed in Spoilers, Supernatural

While Supernatural is returning with a lucky season seven, the luck has run out for the Winchester boys (Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki).

Not only has Castiel (Misha Collins) has forsaken them, but Sam’s given up the mighty demon blood…and, Jared told us before today’s Comic-Con panel, the brothers “are starting to be found” by the authorities.

So what’s next for the demon hunters…and holy roller Castiel? Here’s what the stars and producers revealed today at Comic-Con…

Enter Sandman: Castiel is “drunk with power” at the beginning of the season, Misha told us in the pressroom before the Supernatural panel. “He’s trying to do what he thinks a god should be doing on earth and in heaven, which is fairly righteous and wrathful, rectifying of the world’s problems.” Misha adds that Cas does a “fair amount of smiting”—with the death toll in the thousands. Modest Misha later mused at the Comic-Con panel, “I’m surprised no one has written a god role for me yet—it seemed like such a natural role for me.”

Since You Been Gone: Jensen Ackles himself kicked off the Supernatural panel by introducing a sneak preview of the episode he directed (his second) this season. The flashback scene, featuring the return of Colin Ford as young Sam, seemed crafted for Comic-Con audiences: Not only is Firefly’s Jewel Staite the guest star, but her alias is “Amy Pond”—a character in Doctor Who, whose panel directly followed Supernatural’s in Hall H. Of Staite’s character, Jared told us, “Sam chose to see the good in [her] and now it’s coming back to bite him once again.”

Here They Go Again, On They Own: The Winchester boys have lost a lot of their “little aces in the hole,” Jared told us. “We don’t have Dad, we don’t have Cas, we don’t have demon blood giving us power. So we go back to the boys on their own, essentially.” Executive producer Ben Edlund adds, They’re going to find themselves kind of in a sense running from lots of guns, because the stuff they face this season is kind of massive.”

I Am the Resurrection: Showrunner Sera Gamble confirmed that hellhound-bait Jo Harvelle (Alona Tal) will resurrected again this season, along with Crowley, eliciting a cheer from fellow panelist Mark Sheppard. The prolific actor was worried about his fate on the show, even suggesting a new half-hour sitcom spinoff called “Oh, Crowley.” (Who wouldn’t tune in to that?) Gamble said, “Cas says he has big plans for Crowley, and we’ll reveal those right from the jump.” Other familiar faces we’ll see are Death (Julian Richings) and Sheriff Mills (Kim Rhodes), to the delight of Jim Beaver: “Unlike the Sheriff Mills I played on Harper’s Island, he told the Comic-Con crowd, “this Sheriff Mills is hot.” As for the fate of Castiel himself, Gamble would only confirm that he “will be in first few episodes.” (We’re hoping she means means few dozen.)

‘Supernatural’ Season 7 Spoilers: A Blast from Sam’s Past
filed in Spoilers, Supernatural

We already know that Supernatural star Jensen Ackles will be returning to the director’s chair in season 7, taking control of the third episode (airing October 7), but now we know a lot more about what that episode will be. According to Zap2It, the Ackles-directed episode, currently titled “The Girl Next Door,” will focus on Sam’s past with a girl named Amy.

The story will also feature flashbacks starring Colin Ford as young Sam, who we’ve seen in four previous episodes. However, currently it seems we won’t be seeing young Dean in the episode, though the actor who plays him, Brock Kelly, is in talks to return at some point later in season 7.

“The Girl Next Door” will center on Sam reconnecting with Amy, a girl who saved his life when he was 15 and who wanted him to run away with her. Now she’s settled and living a normal life with a kid, which makes her sound a bit like Sam’s version of Lisa. It’s probably safe to assume that if Sam is back in her life, it’s about to get a lot less normal.

Last season Jensen Ackles directed his first episode, “Weekend at Bobby’s,” which also centered primarily on a non-Dean character. With Ackles behind the camera, it’s safe to assume that Dean will be taking a backseat to Sam’s storyline in this episode.

Supernatural returns for season 7 Friday, September 23 at 9pm on the CW.

Jensen Ackles to Direct Again on ‘Supernatural’
filed in Supernatural

Last season Supernatural star Jensen Ackles made his directorial debut with the season’s fourth episode, “Weekend at Bobby’s,” and it went so well he’s doing it again.

For Supernatural’s upcoming season 7, Ackles will go behind the camera for the second time, directing the third episode which will air October 7. As was the case last season, the episode will actually be the first one filmed when the show starts production in the beginning of July so he doesn’t have to worry too much about splitting focus between directing and acting.

Where did this news originate from? How about Jared Padalecki, whose new Twitter account is proving to be a valuable source of Supernatural info. Not only did he tweet about getting the first two scripts, but, in a post dental surgery haze, he offered to send the script to the first person who sent him a working fax number. And guess what? He did.

Well, sort of. Padalecki faxed out the cover page of the script (with the title blacked out, sadly), but it was enough for us to see that Jensen Ackles will direct and that it’s written by Andrew Dabb and Daniel Loflin, the same pair who wrote the Ackles-directed “Weekend at Bobby’s” as well as the fantastic Western episode “Frontierland.” Check out a photo of the script tweeted by the lucky fan.

It’s still unknown what the episode will focus on, but if it’s anything like the first Jensen-directed episode, it will be very light on Dean. On the bright side, if this is the kind of stuff Jared Padalecki will be tweeting all season long, he’s certainly worth following.
