Pulsar Online - free browser game

Pulsars are highly magnetized, rotating neutron stars that emit a beam of electromagnetic radiation. The radiation can only be observed when the beam of emission is pointing towards the Earth. This is called the lighthouse effect and gives rise to the pulsed nature that gives pulsars their name. Because neutron stars are very dense objects, the rotation period and thus the interval between observed pulses is very regular. For some pulsars, the regularity of pulsation is as precise as an atomic clock. The observed periods of their pulses range from 1.4 milliseconds to 8.5 seconds. A few pulsars are known to have planets orbiting them, such as PSR B1257+12. Werner Becker of the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics said in 2006, "The theory of how pulsars emit their radiation is still in its infancy, even after nearly forty years of work."

Pulsar-Online is an multiplayer tactical simulation game with an international range. Players get together to fight with or against each other. To play you only need a regular web browser like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. That's all.

Round I end date

Round I, the first official round of Pulsar Online, will end August 27th at 22:00 GMT+2. Round II will begin September 1st. If time allows, there will be a special event in between lasting a few days. 

Detailed information about Round II start time and gameplay changes will be given later this week.

NPCs are growing!

Few minutes ago game engine has been updated to support new NPC features:

  • Ring Pirates - system 14,15,18,23,30,31,32 are now populated with pirate ships. They can attack players on their own,
  • Omricon Trader - they can have escort that will assist when trader is under attack,
  • Trade Guild - new trading ships populating more systems,
  • Galactic Police Force - their ability to engage any ship attacking other ships in sectors 1-4 has been returned,
  • Other Ring Rangers - new force protecting systems 13,14,15,17,18,19,20,21,22,
  • Laceti, Central Systems Navy and Ray-Thu ships will assist their attacked comerades,
  • some NPC ships has been redesigned to improve their performance,

 

Besides NPC changes, there were some other changes to game engine:

  • new system and minimap with sector images,
  • mounting equipment and weapons from cargo resfreshes ship stats panel,
  • alliance finance registry shows current balance,
  • other minor changes 

Server failure

Unfortunately, we had another server failure. OS was unable to recover after restart. Game is up and running, a as a recompensation all players have been awarded with 1000AM units and 10 Traxium.

Cargo bug fixed

Yesterdays update wasn't free from new bugs. Selling equipment and weapons from cargo bay directly to station cased used cargo space do not update. Fax has been uploaded to the server. All users that suffer from this bug can recompute used cargo space by:

  1. enter ship equipmnet list and hitting F5 in a browser,
  2. selling, buying, gathering, jettisonning anything

To recompensate for inconvenience, all players have been awarded with extra 20 Traxium units.

Game engine update

Few minutes ago game engine has been updated to newest version. Comparing to previous version, changes are as follows:

  • players from the same alliance are always visible to each other,
  • number of used equipment and weapon slots is recomputed more often. Problem of players being unable to equip even if they have free slots should be solved,
  • caching politics have been rewritten,
  • port info i system map shows buyable ships too,
  • required Traxium for basic equipments and weapons have been lowered to 0,
  • online players registry shows player's alliance names,
  • bug allowing NPCs to multitrigger (the one when NPC fires 16 weapons even if it has only 8) is fixed,
  • game panels rendering politics rewritten,  
  • Mining Lasers stats have been lowered,
  • combat disengage probablity is lowered by 10 percent points,
  • players can sell weapons and equipments directly from ships cargo bay. No mounting needed,
  • bug allowing to doublekill (of even triple) a player is fixed,
  • serveral other minor changes.
