Scripted TV Fans - 2010-2011 Fall TV Season Preview 9/20/10

 

The new prime time fall season for most network television kicks off tonight.  While The CW started its season a couple of weeks ago and a few reality shows have already premiered most of the new season will begin this week.  Reality TV Fans and Scripted TV Fans are going to take the opportunity to let you know about the new season broken down by day of the week. 

 

Monday

 

The CW has already started last week with their new Monday shows, season 4 of Gossip Girl and season 3 of 90210.  ABC is kicking off the 11th edition of Dancing With the Stars tonight with a two hour episode.  Following Dancing With the Stars is the premiere of season 3 of the cop show "Castle".   On NBC is the return of Chuck for Season 4 followed by the new conspiracy thriller show "The Event" starring Jason Ritter, Sarah Roemer and Blair Underwood.  Also on NBC the series premiere of "Chase" a U.S. Marshals fugitive-apprehension show starring Kelli Giddish who starred on last seasons short lived "Past Life" show.  CBS kicks off the season tonight with the sixth season of How I Met Your Mother, season five of Rules of Engagement and season eight of Two and a Half Men.  Following this is the new comedy show Mike and Molly which follows two obese people that meet at an Overeaters Anonymous group.  Finally CBS winds up with their much promoted premiere of the reimagining of the cop series Hawaii Five-0 starring Alex O'Loughlin, Scott Caan and Daniel Dae Kim.  On FOX medical drama House returns for season 7 and a new show Lone Star premieres about an oil man with a secret life on the side.  On Bravo the Jackie Warner show "Thintervention" continues its run.

 

Update: Lonestar has been canceled and Lie to Me will run in its place.

Tuesday

 

The CW is on it's second week of season eight of "One Tree Hill" and season two of "Life Unexpected".  ABC has a two hour episode of Dancing With the Stars followed by the new cop show "Detroit 1-8-7" with Michael Imperioli.  Next week DWTS results are only one hour and ABC will lead off with the new sci-fi show "No Ordinary Family" about a family whose members gain special abilities after their plane crash lands into the Amazon River.  NBC leads off The Biggest Loser for two hours.  Season 10 is themed Pay It Forward and Bob Harper, Jillian Michaels and Alison Sweeney are back with 21 new contestants.  Following this NBC returns Parenthood for season two.  On CBS NCIS is back for season eight, followed by season two of NCIS Los Angeles with a double episode this week.  Next week The Good Wife will return for its second season.  On FOX Glee returns for season two and two new comedies follow, Raising Hope and Running Wilde.  On Raising Hope A 23-year-old must raise his infant daughter, conceived by a one-night stand, with the help of his flawed family after the baby's mother is sent to jail.  On Running Wilde a lovable, but immature playboy (Will Arnett) tries desperately to win the heart of his childhood sweetheart (Keri Russell).  Bravo continues its run of Flipping Out.

Wednesday

 

The CW airs the third episode of the fifteenth cycle of America's Next Top Model followed by the new cheerleading series Hellcats which will be on its third episode as well.  ABC returns with season two of The Middle followed by new romantic comedy series Better With You starring Joanna Garcia and Jennifer Finnigan.  The second seasons of Modern Family and Cougar Town then air and they are followed by new series The Whole Truth.  This is a legal drama series set in New York that chronicles legal cases from the points of view of both the prosecution and the defense and stars Maura Tierney and Rob Morrow from Numb3rs.  NBC airs a new show "Undercovers", a spy television series created by J. J. Abrams.  Law & Order: SVU returns for season twelve with a two hour episode and then next week premieres Law & Order: Los Angeles.  On CBS Survivor Nicaragua continues with its second episode followed by season six of Criminal Minds and a new legal dramedy series The Defenders starring Jerry O'Connell and Jim Belushi.  FOX fills in two hours with season eight of Hell's Kitchen.  Bravo continues its seasons of Top Chef: DC and Top Chef: Just Deserts.  Other cable favorites include new episodes of Man vs Wild on Discovery and LA Ink on TLC.  On October 6 Dog the Bounty Hunter is back for season seven on A&E.

Thursday

 

The CW is on episode three of  the second season of The Vampire Diaries and episode three of new series Nikita.  Nikita stars Maggie Q as Nikita, a spy and assassin who has gone rogue.  ABC leads off with new series My Generation which follows a group of high school classmates in Austin, Texas in 2000, then revisits their lives ten years after graduation.  This is followed by season seven of Grey's Anatomy and season four of Private Practice.  NBC has season two of Community followed by season five of 30 Rock and season seven of The Office which will be Steve Carell's final season.  New series Outsourced follows which is set in a Mumbai, India, call center, where an American novelties company has recently outsourced its order processing. A lone American manages the call center and must explain American popular culture to his employees as he comes to understand Indian culture.  The Apprentice which debuted last week continues its eleventh season in the third hour.  On CBS The Big Bang Theory opens with its fourth season followed by the new William Shatner comedy $#*! My Dad Says.  CSI follows with its eleventh season and The Mentalist is back for season three.  On FOX Bones returns for season six and Fringe is back with season three.  Project Runway season 8 airs its ninth episode this week on Lifetime.  On Bravo The Real Housewives of D.C. continues its run.

Friday

 

The CW debuts season ten of Smallville and season six of Supernatural.  After two hours of Dateline NBC airs new legal drama Outlaw starring Jimmy Smits as a Supreme Court Justice who resigns from the bench to start his own law firm.  CBS airs season seven of Medium and season seven of CSI: NY followed by new cop show Blue Bloods starring Tom Selleck.  FOX airs a repeat of Human Target this week and then season two starts next week.  Following Human Target "The Good Guys" continues its first season.  Bravo airs repeats of Top Chef on Friday.  ABC has repeats of Modern Family, Better With You and The Whole Truth.  The repeats may switch around.

Saturday

 

CBS has repeats of Hawaii Five-0 and Blue Bloods.  See repeats of The Event, Chase and Law & Order: SVU on NBC.  ABC has college football.  Expect sports to air sometimes instead of repeats on Saturday nights.  FOX has COPS and America's Most Wanted.

 

Sunday

 

ABC returns for season eight of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition with a double episode starting at 7pm/6central.  Then Desperate Housewives is back for season seven with new housewife Vanessa Williams from Ugly Betty fame.  Then Brothers & Sisters is back for its fifth season.  The Amazing Race is back for season seventeen with an extended episode on CBS after 60 Minutes.  Following this is season two of Undercover Boss.  Next week Amazing Race is back to one hour and CSI: Miami returns for season nine.  FOX has kicks off season 22 of The Simpsons, followed by The Cleveland Show's second season debut.  Family Guy follows with a one hour episode to begin its ninth season.  Next week Family Guy is a half hour and American Dad returns for season six.  NBC has NFL football on Sunday nights.  Showtime subscribers look for Dexter to return for season five.
