I plan on using an hdmi to dvi-d cable to connect the xbox to the monitor. As for sound, can someone elaborate on what the “optical audio port” on the xbox slim is? Can i plug in the green wire from my pc speakers into there to use as sound?

Get the xbox brand VGA cable for around 40$ . you will also need a audio spiltter (two female red and whit inputs connected to 3.5mm thingy) thn a gender changer female female.plug your vga cable in to the back of your xbox and plug the red and white cables in to the audio splitter . next plug your 3.5mm thingy in to the female audio gener changer and that into yor speaker audio input
