By law, the National Highway Safety Administration is required to issue specific safety regulations that all motor vehicle and mobility manufacturers need to conform to. These Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) are put in place to protect the public and also provide a ratings system for consumers to use when making buying decisions about vehicles and equipment. NMEDA has developed the Compliance Review Program to review testing documents and ensure that products meet the FMVSS. The results are available for you to view.
