@maryploppins613 Anything on Castle? I ask every week & no answer! Will Castle/Beckett spill their secrets to each other before we’re all 85?

We talked with the lovely Stana Katic on set and she is gunning for Castle/Beckett to seal the deal, too, but sadly (sad trombone!), it’s not happening any time soon. “I hope that they deal with their relationship, I hope that it moves forward. I kind of feel like we’re at that point where it’s gotto grow,” she tells us. So what’s coming up after last night’s fantastical forties episode? “I think the next thing that we’re looking at is the two of them almost drowning. I think we’re going to try to take them through every element and almost kill them in any way possible and then hopefully they’ll get it. Hopefully they’ll say, ‘I really love you and I’m crazy for you and let’s just get married and have children.’ ” Season finale, anyone? Done and done!

Castle Stars Dish on Tonight’s Flashback Episode

posted by Anna | with No Comments | in Articles, Interviews, Nathan Fillion, Season Four, Stana Katic, Videos

Danger, drama and dames! Tonight’s highly anticipated episode of Castle takes us back in time to 1947, where the whiskey is stiff and the “smooches” are intense. But more on that in a bit…

We were recently on set when the cast was filming “The Blue Butterfly,” and we’ve got all the storyline scoop from stars Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic about tonight’s noir-style episode and their alter-ego romances…

Tonight’s episode has so many twists and turns, it’ll give you a headache if you’re not paying close attention. Luckily, Nathan Fillion was kind enough to break it down for us: “A treasure hunter is murdered and it turns out he’s after this bejeweled brooch of a piece of necklace that was involved in some kind of big drama in the forties.” And just what exactly makes this necklace so special? Nothing really, it’s just a sapphire-and -diamond-encrusted blue butterfly worth a small fortune.

In order to find this rare necklace Katic explains that Castle takes the phrase “walk a mile in a man’s shoes” to a whole new level. “Castle discovers a private investigator’s diary and he starts going through this man’s life back in the forties. All of these characters come alive through characters that very much resemble our Beckett, Castle, Esposito (Jon Huertas) and Ryan (Seamus Dever) and so on.”

Beckett’s alter ego is Vera, a beautiful runaway whom Castle calls “trouble on two legs.” Katic teases: “My character is a gangster’s moll, basically a gangster’s girlfriend, and the gangster is played by Mark Pellegrino. Castle’s character is the private investigator, so the two of them fall in love. There is a really great love story that happens.” Well, it’s about time that Castle and Beckett get together! Even if it is in another reality.

Caskett shippers can get excited because Fillion tells us that in addition to lighting cars on fire, Vera and the P.I. will be heating up in other ways. “I think in the forties they smooched a lot harder then we do nowadays. It had a little more ‘umph’ to it.”

But we’d have to say that the best part of the episode is definitely the fast-paced ’40s lingo. Fillion tells us, “It’s a very poetic, very neat kind of a jibber-jabber and everybody has got a very particular kind of character different from the ones they already play, so that’s a lot of fun. It’s very flowery, it’s very cool.”

Tune in tonight for an all-new time-traveling episode of Castle at 10 p.m. on ABC.

Castle Creator Shares Inspiration for Noir Episode, Teases ‘Great Moments’ for Show’s Stars

posted by Anna | with No Comments | in Andrew Marlowe, Interviews, Season Four

Warning: Spoilers for 4×14 “The Blue Butterfly.”

Tonight at 10/9c, ABC’s Castle takes a trip in time when a modern-day case reveals its roots in the 1940s. In doing so, Castle and Beckett (played by Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic) transform into a gumshoe named Joe and gangster’s moll Vera, while friends and family members also tag along for the retro ride. TVLine spoke with show boss Andrew W. Marlowe about the origin of this “noir” idea and how dipping into the past might affect the character’s futures.

TVLINE | I’m curious how long you had this episode on the books. Because this season’s 1940s-themed cast photo must have been shot at the end of last summer….
Well, we had wanted to do something different for a while, and I think every show that’s been around for a few seasons wants to do something where they go back in time or have some sort of fun or gives the audience a chance to see their characters as not quite themselves. And part of it was inspiration drawn from thatcast photo. Looking at it, we thought, “Nathan looks so good in that outfit, and Stana looks so great…. Wouldn’t it be something to be able to play with that as a trope?” The challenge for us was finding a way to do it that fit into the storytelling so that it was really organic and not forced, and one of our writers, Terrence Winter, did a really great job with that.

TVLINE | So how do we gain entry into this world?
There’s a current-day murder, but it has a component that is influenced by something that happened back in the 1940s. Castle gets access to this private investigator’s journal, and as he starts reading it he starts imagining himself as the P.I. and Beckett as the gangster’s moll. And our other characters make appearances in the past as well.

TVLINE | Who would say is the biggest deviation from his or her regular character?
Seamus [Dever, Ryan] has a terrific Irish accent in the 1940s, playing a tough who works for the gangster.

TVLINE | I recently interviewed Mark Pellegrino, who plays the gangster, and he said Nathan was truly in his element.
He was having a good time, yeah. I think he’s going to come across very well in the episode.

TVLINE | And all reports say that Stana is “dressed to kill.”
And she has multiple wardrobe changes. Each time the audience sees her [in the '40s], she is dressed to kill.

TVLINE | What sort of reactions do you get when you present such a concept to wardrobe, to set design? Do they admittedly get a bit giddy?
Absolutely. Any time people have a great challenge that allows them to exercise their craft at the highest levels, they’re going to get very excited. It’s always a challenge to do it on a TV budget and on a TV time schedule, but when viewers see the finished piece, they’ll see what a good job all of our departments did.

TVLINE | Sometimes viewers worry that “out of time” episodes such as this won’t have any real impact on the bigger picture of the series, of the season. Will what happens in the ’40s influence our Castle and Beckett?
As much as any other episode. It’s not a deep mythology episode for us, but there are great moments for the two of them to play in this. Some of the stuff in the 1940s reflects where the two of them are in their dance. It’s just that he’s Joe, and she’s Vera.

TVLINE | And there’s a kiss that might excite fans…?
There is a kiss that might excite fans, absolutely. Let’s let them tune in to see if it’s between Joe and Vera, or Castle and Beckett.

Castle Boss and Stana Katic Dish on Castle’s First Muse

posted by Jessica | with No Comments | in Andrew Marlowe, Articles, Season Four, Spoilers, Stana Katic

Warning: Spoilers! Do not read if you wish to remain spoiler-free!

When Jennifer Beals comes to Castle as part of a February sweeps two-parter, she will be more than just one of Rick Castle’s old flames.

When Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) discover a murder victim who was apparently murdered by a rogue CIA agent, they quickly find themselves in the middle of a much larger investigation, led by Beals’ Sophia Conrad.

“She is a CIA agent and, as we know, in Richard Castle’s first series of books, a female CIA agent figured prominently,” creator and executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe tells TVGuide.com. “So, of course, it would lead us to ask: Is Beckett Castle’s first muse?”

Naturally, Beckett learning that she isn’t Castle’s first will leave Beckett with lots of questions about the will-they-won’t-they couple’s future. “Beckett has to wrestle with where she thought she stood in Castle’s life and where she might really stand in Castle’s life,” Marlowe says. “I think it’s natural in a situation like that to feel threatened to some extent, and to measure yourself up.”

“What [Sophia] meant to Castle at the time … and whether or not it makes Beckett feel any less important in Castle’s life, are all things we’re dealing with,” he continues. “Those are questions that Beckett is trying to have answered without exposing her feelings too much.”

For Katic’s part, she believes her character will also be a little disturbed by Castle’s repeat behavior. “When you find out that the guy has had other muses before you, it’s not like, ‘Oh, geez, am I muse enough?’” Katic says. “It’s more like, ‘Some guys have foot fetishes – is this your thing? You just follow women around and tell them they’re your muse so that you can get in their pants?’ I think that’s the confusion there. ”

So, could this bombshell set off other explosions in Castle and Beckett’s relationship? After all, both of them are already keeping big secrets from one another.

“I think it serves as a bit of a touchstone for them,” Marlowe says. “It certainly brings up stuff in both of our characters about how they’re handling the relationship and getting a sense of what they want, what they’re afraid of, and what they hope might happen.”

Castle airs Mondays at 10/9c on ABC. The two-parter begins on Feb. 13.
