9to5Mac reports that the iOS 5 beta targeted for Apple TV includes activation strings for Bluetooth technologies. So, it appears that Bluetooth is coming to Apple TV with the iOS 5 update. The Apple TV does currently ship with a Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip installed, so all that it takes is software activation on Apple’s part.
This move would open the door for Bluetooth pairing of keyboards or even a Bluetooth remote which means the Apple TV unit could be hidden out of sight, allowing the user could still have complete control. This would also open up the ability for hypothetical third-party apps to access Bluetooth peripherals, or even allow for the connection of Bluetooth controllers for video games.
This is just my guess, but Apple appears to be making in roads to opening up the Apple TV for development. Bluetooth support could easily turn the Apple TV into a hub of your living room.

Even if it’s just tied in with Screen Mirroring and AirPlay, it will still be a pretty cool addition. Just give us a native version of Safari, and I will be good.
You can still have complete control of your Apple TV with the Remote App on your iPod/iPhone/iPad… This allows you to type with the on screen keyboard we are all so familiar with.
True, but nothing beats the real thing for me. Even after 3 years, I still misstype too often.
Using the Remote app on my iPad is much better, but I plan on using it more for screen mirroring with the Apple TV.
