#1 Contender’s Tag Action Hits The Ottobar On March 16th!

February 7th, 2012 — Show Announcements

spacer

Having returned and rested from our West Coast debut, we at Super Art Fight are proud to announce the next battle for our return to The Ottobar on Friday night, March 16th, 2012!

The show is already stacked, with live performances from both Paul & Storm and Beefy, plus the much anticipated main event between Brandon J. Carr and Jamie Baldwin for the SAF title, but there are three more bouts still to be announced, and the next one is a doozy.

2011 was the year of the tag division, having been established and crowning it’s first champions this past year. 2012 will prove that the SAF tag division is no joke, as we’re proud to announce a #1 Contender’s Bout for a shot at the Super Art Fight tag titles later in 2012!

It’s going to be a first time bout, with two first time pairings, but ones that are full of Super Art Fight’s best and brightest….on March 16th it’s going to be…

Darl “Apocalypse” Gnau & Bryan “Silent But Violent” Prindiville
vs.
Michael “Spaghetti Kiss” Bracco & Chelsea “Grose Misconduct” Grose

Coming out of their battle at Super Art Fight 12, Gnau and Prindiville have struck up a mutual respect, and as two of the most physically intimidating competitors in Super Art Fight, they’re a force to reckon with before they even tackle the canvas.  Prindiville has grown from an opening round fighter to title contender and proud member of Team IMPACT!, so to take the 2011 SAF Idol winner under his wing will not just refine Gnau, but make for a duo that is hard to beat.  Across the canvas, you have the first time pairing of Chelsea Grose and Michael Bracco.  Grose has one of the finest singles records in SAF history, and you have to think that the Charm City Roller Girl wants to bring the same level of success to the tag world.  With Michael Bracco, Grose might have just found the perfect pairing – Bracco, a TWO TIME SAF Champion, is without a doubt one of the biggest successes in SAF history, and if he and Chelsea win here, you have to believe he’ll be adding a tag title to his already impressive trophy case.

Two great teams. One great bout. All for a shot at destiny. It all heats up at The Ottobar on March 16th.

Super Art Fight RETURNS For KATSUCON 18!

January 31st, 2012 — Show Announcements

spacer

Oh, Katsucon, sweet glorious Katsucon. You are so good to us. In fact, without you, we’d never exist.  It was way back at Katsucon 14 that we were birth during an Iron Artist battle between our co-founders Nick “Ghostfreehood” Borkowicz and Jamie “Angry Zen Master” Noguchi, and we’ve hit the ground running ever since.

That said, each time we come back to Katsucon, we make sure that it’s something special, and we are aiming to do the same this year, as we are a part of Katsucon 18, Friday, February 17th through Sunday, February 19th, 2012.

We kick off the weekend in a rather infamous way, as for the first time ever, we will be bringing Super Art Fight UNLEASHED! to Katsucon.  That show will be Friday Night, February 17th at Midnight (so technically Saturday Morning), and will feature the darkest, deepest, most messed up ideas of the SAF roster tossed onto canvas.  As always, this UNLEASHED event will be 18+ and NO PHOTOGRAPHY OR VIDEO IS ALLOWED. For the dayjobs and such. We like to keep them.  We’ll update you on the panel room location as we know it.

The Super Art Fight show proper will follow up on Saturday Afternoon, February 18th at 2:30pm. This will be a full featured Super Art Fight live event, featuring the roster you know and love. The event is all ages, and photography and video is ENCOURAGED.

Here’s what you’ll see on the canvas on the 18th…

  • Nick “Ghostfreehood” Borkowicz vs. Jamie “Brawlin’” Baldwin
The biggest SAF feud of Summer 2010 is reignited here! Borkowicz and Baldwin have given each other some of the hardest fought bouts in SAF history, so we just HAD to put the rematch in front of one of our most appreciative audiences. Their first one on one bout in almost a year, the stakes are high as Borkowicz is trying to re-situate himself as a singles competitor after his loss of the SAF tag titles, and Baldwin is trying to keep momentum going into her SAF title shot on March 16th. Who will reign supreme? Find out at Katsucon!
  • Katsucon 17 Rematch! Kelsey “Killer” Wailes vs. Michael “Spaghetti Kiss” Bracco
Last year, one of the best bouts of the Katsucon show was the first ever one on one pairing of Kelsey Wailes and then SAF Champion, Michael Bracco. The battle was so big that it even expanded past the canvas onto cardboard boxes, and honestly, anything they could draw on. It’s only appropriate that one year later, we see what they’ve got. Bracco versus Wailes, it really doesn’t get better than that.
  • Jamie Noguchi Legend Battle! Jamie “Angry Zen Master Noguchi vs. ???
Every year, we indulge Jamie Noguchi. Not in the way you’d expect, given his crazy Art Fight antics. Once a year, at every Katsucon, he makes one demand – he wants to step his game up against a legendary artist. In 2010, he battled Jo Chen. In 2011, he battled Frank Cho. In 2012…he faces….well, we can’t officially announce it yet.  In an effort to build interest and hype, Jamie has asked that we keep the name quiet until closer to showtime. But, since we want to give you a hint, let’s just say that this might be the battle of the tortoise…and the hare.  We cannot wait to see this battle happen, as Jamie gets to strut his stuff against one of his favorite artists of all time, and it’s a bout you’ll ONLY see at Katsucon.

There you go. Two big shows, Three big bouts, it’s going to be a heck of a weekend at Katsucon. We hope you can join us live. See you there!

Super Art Fight Returns To THE OTTOBAR – Friday, March 16th!

January 25th, 2012 — Show Announcements

spacer

Just in time for us to hit the door and leave for our trip to San Francisco, we are proud to announce our return to our home base, The Ottobar in Baltimore, Maryland for another absolutely stacked live event!

Our first Baltimore show of the 2012 season, this is poised to be a huge event for us, and based on special guests alone, we can promise you that it’s going to be a great one.

First and foremost, we’re proud to announce that our next Ottobar event will feature the only area appearance for the absolutely fantastic nerdcore rapper Beefy.  Having worked with such Super Art Fight luminaries as MC Frontalot and MC Lars, Beefy is another man making his name known in the hip hop world, and we’re proud to feature him on the Ottobar stage.  If you haven’t heard of him before, here’s a great track from him – “Game Store Girl”.

Next, as our headlining musical act for the evening, we are pleased to announce the Super Art Fight debut of Paul and Storm!  Paul and Storm are a fantastic acoustic comedy rock duo, best known for their tours with Jonathan Coulton.  Having appeared at many events including PAX and their own w00tstock shows (put on with Wil Wheaton and Adam Savage), it’s an honor and a pleasure to feature them on March 16th.  Again, for those unaware, here is a video of one of their many great songs – “Opening Band”.

Now, what about the Art Fights?  We’ll be announcing a full card as the show gets closer (4 bouts again, will be in play), but we can confirm your main event – Super Art Fight Champion Brandon J. Carr will make his first defense against former champion, and #1 contender to the title, Jamie “Brawlin’” Baldwin!

Tickets for this show go on sale on Friday, January 27th at MissionTix.com for just $15. As always, we recommend getting your tickets early.  Based on early response on Facebook and Twitter, this could be one of our biggest shows to date, and you do NOT want to get shut out!

Speaking of Facebook – the official event page for our March 16 show is here, so please, do feel free to RSVP and share it out with your friends! We’d love to see you all there, and know that you’re coming!

Stay tuned to SuperArtFight.com for more details as they come, as we get closer to our return to our home, The Ottobar!

THIS WEEKEND! MAGFest X – Featuring The MAGFest Round Robin Tournament!

January 4th, 2012 — Show Announcements

spacer

This weekend, our 2012 season finally kicks off as we return to the astonishing video game and music festival MAGFest, celebrating their TENTH year by moving on up to a venue we’re VERY familiar with, the amazing Gaylord National Hotel in National Harbor, Maryland.

Serving as our first official Super Art Fight card with this fantastic show, we will be putting together a unique first, with ramifications to be felt across our brand new season of action, as we present The MAGFest Round Robin Tournament.

Before we get into the card, we want to make a talent change notice – Nick “Ghostfreehood” DiFabbio will be unable to appear on Saturday’s show due to a personal commitment – but do not worry, as we will be showcasing the talents of former two-time Super Art Fight Champion Michael “Spaghetti Kiss” Bracco!

On Saturday Afternoon, January 7th, at 12:30pm in Panel 2, we will present this astonishing tournament, featuring the following talents….

  • Former Super Art Fight Tag Champion Kelsey “Killer” Wailes
  • Clay Yount
  • Super Art Fight Co-Founder, Former Super Art Fight Champion and Leader of Team Impact! Jamie “Angry Zen Master” Noguchi
  • Former 2-Time Super Art Fight Champion Michael “Spaghetti Kiss” Bracco
  • Former Super Art Fight Champion, Current #1 Contender Jamie “Brawlin’” Baldwin
As you can see, we are NOT messing around with this roster, all high end talent, all high stakes bouts…here’s what you’ll see this Saturday
Bout #1: Kelsey “Killer” Wailes versus Michael “Spaghetti Kiss” Bracco – This Super Art Fight 11 Rematch pits two of SAF’s best one on one on more time!
Bout #2: Clay Yount vs. Jamie “Angry Zen Master” Noguchi – An SAF vet versus an SAF newcomer, two truly talented artists tackling the canvas mano y mano.
Bout #3: Winner of Bout #1 vs. Winner of Bout #2 vs. Jamie “Brawlin’” Baldwin, to determine the tournament winner! Jamie Baldwin, serving as current number #1 contender to the SAF title gets an automatic bye to the finals, but she will have to face two of SAF’s best to walk away with a victory. It’s truly going to be anyone’s game in what has become one of our wildest bouts, the 3-way dance!
High stakes battles, high risk challenges, it all starts our biggest season to date – you have to believe if Jamie Baldwin doesn’t walk away with the victory here, the person who wins will be in line for an SAF title shot, so it simply cannot get bigger than this.
Join us this Saturday afternoon at MAGFest to see how we start 2012, and which artists will be reigning supreme in the New Year! See you there!

A Look Back At SUPER ART FIGHT 12 And A Look Into 2012!

November 29th, 2011 — Show Coverage

spacer

Folks, it’s been 9 days since our final show of 2011, the absolutely stupendous Super Art Fight 12.  Having featured two amazing live musical performances from Rare Candy and Adam WarRock respectively, the night was set off right by the bands presented – but what will continue to be talked about are the four amazing bouts that evening, which resulted in the crowning of ALL NEW CHAMPIONS.

Here’s what went down…

Super Art Fight Title #1 Contender’s Bout: Jamie “Brawlin’” Baldwin defeated Jamie “Angry Zen Master” Noguchi (w/ Mecha Impact 3.0) and Chelsea “Grose Misconduct” Grose.

The result for this absolutely insane bout was one definitely fraught in controversy – it seems that Jamie Baldwin simply cannot avoid it when it comes to her and key victories. Team Impact’s full effect was felt, with antics from both Impact and Noguchi, and Chelsea Grose made a solid return to the SAF canvas, after being away due to CCRG duties, but at the end, there was only one winner.  With a full decible point in her favor, Jamie Baldwin wins a title shot in 2012, and she might just be on her way to her second SAF title!

Super Art Fight Tag Team Title Bout: “The Business” Henry Alexander & “Charm City Shinobi” Dann Malihom defeated Nick “Ghostfreehood” DiFabbio & Kelsey “Killer” Wailes to become the NEW CHAMPIONS.

The wind of change was certainly felt in the air at the Ottobar, as the team of Super Art Fight IDOL finalists Alexander & Malihom secured their name in SAF history, as the second ever SAF tag champions. For the Doctor Who loving duo of Nick and Kelsey, their crazed tag team reign ends almost as quickly as it started, and now they are a duo in flux (more to come on that). This was arguably the wildest bout of the evening, and while you may question how Alexander secured the tag title shot, there’s no doubt that he is the Business…and Business is good.

Battle of the Big Men! Bryan “Silent But Violent” Prindiville defeated Darl “Apocalypse” Gnau

They weren’t the flashiest, they weren’t the most extreme, but when it came down to pure on canvas action, Prindiville and Gnau had it in spades.  Two of the most physically intimidating SAF competitors went literally toe to toe, and when the dust cleared, the returning Bryan Prindiville nabbed the victory.  But it sure seems these competitors have a level of respect for each other.  What will this mean for Team Impact?

Super Art Fight Title Bout: “The Nicest Man in Art Fight” Brandon J. Carr defeated Michael “Spaghetti Kiss” Bracco to become the NEW SUPER ART FIGHT CHAMPION.

Wow. At the beginning of this year, Brandon J. Carr was making his Ottobar debut against Caldwell Tanner, and Michael Bracco was securing his second SAF title from the waist of Jamie Baldwin.  What an amazing difference a year makes.  The dapper Carr was as always, respectful, showing former Champion Bracco respect on the way out, and issuing a new age in Super Art Fight.  At the end of SAF 12, one thing was clear – the new generation was here, and they are here to stay.

What to Look For in 2012?

-With Brandon Carr, Dann Malihom and Henry Alexander securing titles at SAF 12, a new generation movement has taken SAF by storm. At the beginning of 2011, none of these competitors were regulars, and now they are at the top of the game – there’s a very good chance that the champions we have at the end of next year haven’t even tackled the canvas yet!

-But don’t count out the vets! Jamie Baldwin is primed to go for a second SAF title, Nick DiFabbio wants to rebuild his name as a singles star, and Team Impact wants all the gold – who, of these competitors, will make it to title contention in 2012?

-Speaking of Team Impact – now that the 3rd Man, Bryan Prindiville is making friends with Darl Gnau, is he on the outs? Or will Team Impact’s roster now be a team of FOUR?

-Michael Bracco was seen after his bout discussing tag team strategy with a prominent member of the SAF roster – could he be aiming for tag gold in 2012?

Stick around, as all this and more comes to a head next year – our 2012 season kicks off with MAGFest in January, and who knows what will happen! Thank you so much for supporting us through 2011, and we cannot wait to take it to the next level next year. We will see you soon!
