Awful joke. Terrible. I’m so sorry.
On the bright side I did learn some interesting stuff about walruses while looking for reference images.
It seems that walruses are really naked, semi-aquatic, sabre-toothed bears. Yes, walruses evolved from a bear-like ancestor that was also the ancestor of modern grizzlies, browns and polars. Fascinating.

The Walrus’s name was a lucky accident. I settled on a walrus as the police officer in this strip after it was suggested by a Twitter follower, Anna. (who also did this guest strip) When I came to name him I did what I usually do and looked up the species’ taxonomic name to get ideas.
The walrus is Odobenus rosmarus so it was a no-brainer to name him Constable Odo in a geek-friendly nod to another Constable Odo who was quite capable of being a walrus himself if he so chose. (although he seemed to prefer being a waxy-faced man with a penchant for bumpy-nosed women most of the time)
