Our Hotel

The Redmond Marriott Town Center is located on Seattle’s Eastside, just 10 miles east of Seattle and adjacent to Bellevue. The hotel is part of Redmond Town Center, Redmond’s beautiful open-air shopping center with many shopping and dining options.

The Marriott is completely non-smoking, and features high-speed wireless internet access. The Marriott staff is clearly excited to work with us again, and senior management is interested in making our stay a great one.

Pets: The Marriott allows guests to bring pets (up to 45 lbs.) but requires a $75 pet fee (not a deposit, but a non-refundable fee) to cover the stay.

Room Rates

The convention room rate is $134 if you book by Sept. 17. All room rates, convention or otherwise, include parking. Park your own car and let the hotel know; valet parking is not included. Call toll-free 800.218.7141 or visit the hotel website to make reservations.

Function Space

Foolscap programming is in the Elk River, Lewis River, Bear River rooms and Alder, in addition to the Canyon Creek room, thanks to our Kickstarter Sponsors! We have the pre-function space and the small marble lobby near us as well as a formal registration desk just off that lobby. We are both a short walk from the elevators to your rooms and well away from any room that might have issues with our “noise” — it’s the best of both worlds! The hotel has a great bar, and a restaurant that serves a killer breakfast! A lounge outside of both the formal bar and the formal restaurant has a fireplace and comfy chairs and sofas to sit and read a good book. There is a pool on the second floor, as well as free parking on the street and in several garages around the hotel for day trippers as well as overnight parking included in the hotel price in the lot directly across 74th (above Tully’s) for those staying on property. The lot underneath is a valet parking lot and that is not part of our package.

Redmond Town Center

The hotel is part of Redmond Town Center complex, which has more than 25 great places to get food within a three-block walking distance (and most of that under cover). You’ll find both Starbucks and Tully’s (Tully’s is across the street from the hotel) and one of the best Thai places in the Puget Sound (Thai Ginger).

There is a nearby hiking trail and, within a short driving distance, access to Marymoor Park.

Directions and Transportation

Local Bus Commuting

Metro, the King County bus service, provides service to the area. If you are commuting, check the Metro TripPlanner to find the best route. TripPlanner includes information on Metro, Everett Transit, Community Transit, Pierce Transit, Sound Transit, and the Sounder commuter rail. It also has information on the monorail, but the monorail doesn’t go to Redmond.

The five closest stops to the Marriott are:

  • NE Redmond Way & NE 79th St 0.09 mile (e.g., walk Redmond Way, make a left onto Leary, another left on Bear Creek Way, and one more left eft on 74th — for less than 1/10th of a mile)

Driving Directions

Seattle has some of the worst traffic in the nation — check how’s its flowing at the Department of Transportation’s site.

From Seattle-Tacoma International Airport

Take I-405 North to SR-520 East (Redmond exit).
Take West Lk. Sammamish Pkwy exit, turn left at light.
Turn Right onto Leary Way.
Turn Right onto Bear Creek Pkwy.
Turn Left onto 74th St.
Turn Left onto 164th Ave NE.
Hotel is on the left.

Weather

The Seattle Times forecast tends to be the most accurate. Remember, this is a maritime climate and therefore, very changeable.

On a September day in Seattle, temperatures can easily range from 40 F to 75 F. And then there’s always the rain, which can is generally a heavy mist but can turn into an outright downpour.

So: Anything could happen over a three-day weekend. Even three days of solid sunshine.

This means your best defense is a recent weather report and the layered look. A sweater over a shirt, blouse, or t-shirt, plus a light raincoat or jacket, will work for most situations. An umbrella is almost always a good idea. (But for some reason, none of the natives ever carry them.)
