Sampling by Region?

Nov 16th, 2009 by Josh Engler

Here’s the first question posed to the Data Doc:

Dear Data Doctor,

Q: In our state, individuals primarily live in four geographical regions. Should we try to interview the same number of DD consumers from each region?

A: The principles of random sampling indicate that your randomly selected state sample should include enough individuals from the four regions to comprise a state sample that is representative of, and generalizable to, the entire state.  If you want HSRI to run specific analyses comparing results across your four geographical regions, please contact us for more details.  We would like each and every NCI state to contact the HSRI team prior to pulling your sample.
