Inspiration from July ’11
While preparing for our weekly innovation meetings, I come across examples of brilliant web design and development. As something I’ll try to keep as a regular feature on the Soak blog, here are some interesting links from the past month:
- .net magazine has a new (albeit spooky) 404 page
- An engaging infographic community, in the form of Visual.ly
- A rather nice combination of HTML5 Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) and TypeKit
- Earlier this year, Nike Better World attracted significant attention, further popularising the use of parallax scrolling within web design. It’s inspired many others, see Contrast Rebellion, Dentsu Network and ala
- Another interesting (if slightly disorienting) use of scrolling: The Art of FLIGHT
- While developers are getting to grips with new HTML5 elements, remember to avoid the common mistakes
- Responsive design is starting to break through, see a gallery of sites that scale brilliantly from widescreen to mobile
- Finally, one for the coffee break: Infinite Mario within an HTML5 canvas
