John Cena will wave the green flag as Honorary Starter of the 54th annual Daytona 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday, Feb. 26 at the historic Daytona International Speedway.

Cena was invited to participate in this year’s big race by 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series runner-up Carl Edwards on Raw SuperShow.

“I am honored to come here on behalf of NASCAR and everyone at the Daytone 500 to invite you, John Cena, to be the honorary starter, to wave the green flag for the 54th running of the Daytona 500 on February 26,” Edwards said after stepping out of his official No. 99 Fastenal Ford.

“Yes, I’ll definitely be there,” Cena enthusiastically declared.

WWE Superstars certainly know how to make an entrance, and now, for the first time, the WWE Universe gets to decide their favorite.

Cartoon Network has nominated four WWE Superstars for the brand-new “Here to Rumble” Award for best entrance at the second annual Hall of Game Awards on Feb. 20. The four WWE Superstars nominated are John Cena for his military-themed oeuvre, Kofi Kingston’s freewheeling pyro-fest, The Miz’s defiant strut, and The Undertaker’s demonic lurch through the fires of hell.

Who will take home the prestigious award? That depends on you. The WWE Universe can log on to the show’s official website and cast their vote!

The Hall of Game Awards, hosted by Shaquille O’Neal, airs on Feb. 20 at 7/6 CT, on Cartoon Network.

John Cena has responded to The Rock’s latest attack on him – suggesting The Rock has a problem with gay people and needs better material.

The Rock tweeted on Friday:

“@JohnCena I was electrifying Topeka when you were sucking on yum rockets in college. My boot. Your ass. #Wrestlemania”

Cena, who got some heat from the GLAAD organization last year for comments he made on RAW that were deemed homophobic, responded to The Rock with the following:

“So its apparent that my actor buddy Dwayne doesn’t like homosexuals or secondary education. Very classy. Tell Brian to write u better stuff.”

The the “Brian” that Cena refers to is WWE creative team member Brian Gewirtz, who writes a lot of the promos for WWE’s top superstars.

R-Truth & John Cena vs. Kane & Miz was next and this is where it was clearly a majority family outing, as Cena was over huge with cheers drowning out the boos and “Cena Sucks” chants. R-Truth spent most of the match being beat down by Kane & Miz, while using some good tag team tactics and psychology, but eventually Cena made the hot tag, took no punishment, hit the Attitude Adjustment on Miz, 1-2-3, and the crowd was into the whole thing.

Cena ranks higher in this week’s Power 25 after a grueling battle with Kane that ended in a double count-out at Royal Rumble. The next night on Raw SuperShow, Cena unleashed his unbridled rage on The Big Red Machine.
