Hello! I’m Krista. Welcome to my site.

When people ask me what I “do”…

Sometimes I tell them I’m a photographer.

Other times I tell them I’m a publicist.

And sometimes I just fess up and say, “I don’t really know.”

I lost my job a couple years ago, so a lot of what I’ve been writing about lately is a result of the grief, confusion, and general weirdness you encounter when what you thought was going to be your life ends up not being.

But here I am, writing my way through it as I dive head first into my 30s, learn how to survive [read: pay the bills] without a “day job,” and examine the intersection of life and faith.

Oh, and look for the man of my dreams.

I read the dictionary for fun, collect globes and maps, and often confuse Williams-Sonoma with Mecca.

I’m

a dreamer,

a cautious jumper,

and a hopeful romantic.

I’m passionately 100%,

and successfully happy (mostly).

I laugh at the corniest jokes for days (that horse who walks into a bar gets me every time).

I sing in the shower (very well, I might add),

and dance in the car (even better).

My southern accent slips out every now and again,

and I hate that the frequency of “y’all” within my vocabulary usage diminishes more every year I’m away from Carolina.

I cheat when I play pool (and and I away with it every time, which has everything to do with long eyelashes).

I’m a seeker of ordinary miracles,

lover of new shoes and old books,

eating out and sleeping in,

holding hands and sharing hearts (give me deep conversation over mindless small talk any day),

driving fast and dancing slow.

I still watch fireworks with the same awe and excitement of a 5 year-old,

and I live for birthday parties, Christmas lights, fresh flowers, and good seafood.

I miss the island of my childhood but call the desert home.

I worship the sun (and the Son),

plan to change the world,

and am pretty  sure I can.
