The Invitation

This is an invitation to be you, unabashedly you.

It’s an invitation to put the project down – to set it all down and let it all go – the ‘trying to be more than’, the ‘fear of being less than’, the attempt to be something other than what you are; the striving, the pushing, the fighting with what is, maybe even the constant barrage of self-judgment, self-loathing, even self-hatred.

You might know it as a ‘self-improvement project’, or the ‘I can have it all’ project.

You might recognize it as an ‘I’m not enough’ or ‘I’m too much’ project.

Try this for a moment.

  1. Get a sense of your project, a sense of the weight of it. What messages it tells you repeatedly. The exhaustion you feel from having to have kept it up for so long. Get a sense of how it runs your life. Really let yourself feel this.If you think you’re the only one with one of these heavy projects, you’re not. You’re not alone. We all carry one.
  2. Now, imagine, in your mind’s eye, taking it off. You might even get an image in your mind of what that looks like. For some it’s like taking off heavy armor. For others, it can be like removing weights from all four limbs. Experience how you feel when you take it off and set it down. What do you notice?
  3. Now with the project set to the side, what’s here? What’s been here all along, simply watching all the activity, all the efforting, all the striving? Who is here under all the labels you wear and the roles you play?

Why do we have the project?

One of the reasons we have the project is so we don’t have to face knowing who and what we really are.

But notice, when you put the project down, the feeling of lightness, of freedom.

Notice that there is a you that’s been here all along. This you doesn’t push, doesn’t struggle, doesn’t fight. This you is here waiting.

I’d love to help you get to know this you that you really are.

My approach.

How it works.
