I’ve got this error when I try to activate this new plugin :
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare _recaptcha_qsencode() (previously declared in /…./wp-content/plugins/wp-recaptcha/recaptchalib.php:47) in /…./wp-content/plugins/wp-security-scan/recaptchalib.php on line 55
I think it conflict with WP-recaptcha….
WP Security Scan plugin (v3.0.0) crashed during plugin activation.
All “_recaptcha*” functions conflict with the same functions in WP-Recaptcha plugin
Can this plugin scure my blog from hacker or cracker or defacer?
Thank you
Can you please provide more information about who the company is and why we should trust you. I’d prefer independent information not your own press releases thanks.
It is disconcerting to find out that the plugin “owners” have changed without any real background or information about this company..Considering that at least 3 high profile plugins have been tampered with (at least) wordpress.org/news/2011/06/passwords-reset/ then more caution is necessary especially since you don’t even have an about page on your site.
Also Most of the comments over at the main plugin repository say this plugin is broken on 3.1.3 – that does not inspire confidence at all
wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-security-scan/
We know that some services pretend to be helpers when they are malware. How can we verify your company for the 2 WordPress plugins you now appear to control.
Hi,
We had a conflict with plugins using ReCaptcha. Working on a fix right now and an update should be available in a matter of minutes.
Hi Jason,
As the article above says, WebsiteDefender.com is developed by Acunetix. Acunetix Web Vulnerability Scanner is used by international companies and organisations such as the US Air Force.
The WebsiteDefender.com About page can be found in the footer, and here.
There are many independent reviews that discuss Acunetix. Visit the Acunetix blog for more information.
The problem with the fatal error can be solved by renaming the method to wsd_recaptcha… in the recaptchalib.php file like the other functions in that file.
I hope that this will be fixed ASAP because it does not make a good impression to a security tool…
Hi Andre,
We already fixed the issue. Please download the latest version of the plugin from: wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-security-scan/
The error is still there in version 3.0.1
Please rename that method…
And btw: fix the link to the Plugin URI of the plugin in the plugin description of the securityscan.php file…
That really makes no good impression.
Hi Andre,
We did further changes to the code and applied the fix. It should work now without any problems. Please download the latest plugin from wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-security-scan/
Thank you for the fast reply…
Can you tell me which one you released? Cause I updated to 3.0.1 and the error still existed. At the moment (CEST 1255 pm) there is no other version available.
Kind regards
Andre
OK… something went wrong during the update. I had to uninstall and reinstall version 3.0.1.
now the error is fixed.
Thanks allot for your good work.
Thanks Andrew,
I was hoping for more transparency. “has taken over the WP Security Scan plugin” is a bit light on detail. Like many users I’m being a bit more cautious on plugin updates until credentials are confirmed.
That there is no statement over on semperfiwebdesign.com/ who previously developed the plugin makes it tricky. However the forums over there seem to be dead which is also not positive.
For example
semperfiwebdesign.com/forum/wp-security-scan-troubleshooting/problems-after-installing-version-3-0-0/ probably needs to be answered and updated so that is is easier to transition users.
On a key plugin like the security scan seems like it should be much clearer and transparent what is going on don’t you think?
Thanks for the info about Acunetix.
Hi Jason,
Thank you for your feedback.
We are currently working with SemperFi so they also issue a press release. Having said that, if you have any support queries or suggestions about the plugins, you can use our forums; www.websitedefender.com/forums/wp-security-scan-plugin/
All plugin support will be provided by us, SemperFi will no longer be responsible for the plugin.
As regards the support query you mentioned, that issue has already been resolved and an updated version of the plugin has been released. You can download the latest version from the following URL; wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-security-scan/
Do not hesitate to contact us in case of any queries.

I am using canvas theme(Woo Theams) in wordpress(3.2.1). I am getting blank page and not able to access any WP admin section after click the “WP Security Scan” plugin ‘Active’ link. WP admin is working when I remove the “WP Security Scan” floder from plugins in FTP. Please can you suggest me what I have to do.
