SOAP

The SOAP method is something Pastor Hubbard teaches for getting the most out of your daily devotions. It comes out of Wayne Cordeiro’s book, “The Divine Mentor” (to purchase this book, visit the store). Here’s the meaning behind its message:

S = Scripture

Find one scripture in your daily devotions that speaks directly to you. Highlight it and write it down in your journal. Focusing on just one verse will help ensure you remember it.

O = Observation

Turn off and get rid of all possible distractions and just spend a moment in silence with God. Really focus on what the verse is telling you, meditate on it, and let it soak through to your heart.

A = Application

After you’ve observed what the verse says, spend some time writing out and deciding on how you can put it into practice. The question here is: ” How does this verse or thought apply to me?”

P = Prayer

It is a great idea to get in the practice of writing out your prayers. What are you believing God for? What do you need Him to do in your life?  Write these down, and spend some time praying to God. Ask Him to help you apply what you’ve just read to your life.

In honor of the SOAP method, Pastor Hubbard is offering a devotional plan that we as New Generations Church can do corporately. To get started, or find out more, click on the Project 345 link below.

Project 345 - Begins January 1

This is a reading plan for an easy and effective way to read through the entire New Testament in one year. The plan involves reading one chapter a day for five days a week.
