February’s Clues

Written on February 9, 2012 by Jane in Letters From Myself

Havi’s finding the clues caper is always fascinating and useful in the most unlikely ways.

I’m a voracious devourer of crime and mystery novels and shows, so finding out how seemingly random everyday things are secret clues to help me in my mission…yes please.

These are my investigations of the clues I found reading Havi’s Hello February post.*

I started scribbling them down at 7.30am after waking up at dark o’clock, because by that time I just couldn’t wait any longer. So if they seems a little disjointed, that’s why.

*Does anyone else ever feel like February always looks like it’s spelled wrong when you write it?

Gray’s Anatomy

Ribs, ribcage.

Sheltering the heart.

Creating space for the breath.

In and out.

Discovery. Naming. Mapping.

Everything has a name, and a purpose.

And there are things ‘we’ haven’t discovered yet.

Strange miracles of the everyday.

Like how our feet work.

My favourite tea

Love.

The beauty of giving.

Small moments of bliss – being completely present, enjoying the tea, watching the sky.

These moments are here for me to give to myself, all the time.

A shawl

Warmth. Tradition. Shelter. Family.

Comfort we can give ourselves.

Foo Dog statuettes

Guardians of doorways.

Sacred hybrids.

Holder of mysteries.

Protection that I can invoke.

Foo Dogs of my doorways, how can we serve each other?

Honouring the moment of crossing the threshold.

Playing in the spaces betwixt and between.

Creating my own space to thrive and create and share, and the boundary that holds it.

Learning to do this.

Remembering that I can call on the Foo Dogs for help.

Headphones

Choice.

What is that I want to listen to?

There is the possibility of changing what I listen to – I don’t have to live with the same piece of music for the rest of my life.

In fact, ugh – that would be terrible and thankfully is also impossible.

Transformation is part of life.

There’s no need to force it.

Every time I listen to the same piece of music my experience of it is different.

Shutting out what I don’t want in my aural space.

Choosing to keep something for my ears only.

Clicky bing!

Ah. The body, the mug of tea, the warm shawl wrapped around my shoulders, the Foo Dogs at the gate, the headphones.

Containers.

Boundaries.

Holding space for life, creation, pleasure.

Yes.

Play with me

You’re welcome to join me investigating my clues, or your own.

Thoughts and experiences about creating and holding boundaries gratefully received.
