February 9, 2012: Tata Motors has delivered a fleet of Tata Nanos to the Mumbai Police in order to check if it can fit well as a police car for patrolling around the city. It doesn’t end here as the Nano is also heading to Goa for serving Goan Police as a police car.

If given a thought to the idea of Nano being a police car, then we really find some positive points supporting this idea. For instance, the diminutive dimensions of the car would allow cops to patrol the crowded Mumbai city more conveniently providing protection to Mumbai constabulary in all the weathers. The car sports high fuel efficiency that will allow a great city runabout saving some fuel expenses, unlike that in the case of motorcycles.

However, the Goa is not as crowded as Mumbai, but most of the Goan back roads have very narrow track where Nano would perfectly do the duty. So, the Nano is also heading to serve as police car in Goa. The car has been modified to serve the purpose of a police car, although the modifications are not known yet. However, the Nano would find it difficult to chase down the criminals making a fast getaway as it is a slow car. Despite this, it’s a good car for day-to-day patrolling.
