PBS Offers ‘Tavis Smiley’ on iPhone
While on my regular internet travels I came upon the iPhone-optimized website for Tavis Smiley. It looks like the folks over at PBS have made available a mini-version of their regular Tavis Smiley website.
The mobile site looks clean and well-designed for the iPhone. It provides you with the week’s schedule of guests appearing on the show, as well as information regarding each guest. You also have the ability to check for your local airtime of Tavis Smiley, and you catch up on the latest posts from the show’s official blogs. An interesting feature on the mobile site is the integration of Tavis Smiley’s Twitter feed. The site promotes Tavis’ Twitter account and syndicates the last five tweets from his feed. Speaking of Twitter, Tavis mentions Twitter a lot in his video blogs. I definitely like to see celebrities or high profile Twitterers evangelize the service in other types of media and promotional outreach.
Overall, the site does a good job of paring down the larger site into something more direct and to the point for mobile users. My only complaint is that the URL is ridiculously long, and I was unable to find a link to the mobile site from the main site. Other than that, I am impressed with their attempt at taking their site to the next level.
