spacer I

This is another down south finest. In case you are wondering where is southern, well that is the southern part of The United State of America.

Ingredients

21/2 cups of all-purpose flour
2 tablespoon sugar (granulated)
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons margarine
1 cup butter milk (mix one tablespoon vinegar with some milk)
1 egg
Flour for dusting

Method

In a bowl whisk together, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the margarine, cut and fold the margarine in the flour mixture.
In another bowl whisk together the buttermilk and egg. Add the buttermilk mixture to the egg mixture, stir together with a fork until it forms a soft dough.
At this point dough is very sticky. Use hands to sprinkle  some flour over dough and continue kneading. Place dough on a lightly floured surface and roll out to about 3/4" thick. Use a cutter to cut out some rounds (or use a cup) Place rounds on a baking sheet that is lined with grease paper and baked at 375F for 15-20 minutes. Best serve warm with jam.
