Deep-Sea Robot Technician: SmartVan’s Job of the Week
Did you know that right now there are advanced underwater robots working in some of the most extreme conditions, deep in the ocean, to keep our underwater gas and oil machinery working properly? As a field service professional, that’s probably got you wondering who repairs and maintains these subsea remote-operated vehicles.
This week, we’re spotlighting an exciting opportunity to install, repair, and maintain those deep-sea robots for Schilling Robotics, based in Houston. If you have an interest in ROVs, electronics, and international travel, this is the job for you. For more, check our job board here.
Deep-Sea Robot Technician
Doing What: Installing, testing, maintaining, repairing, providing technical assistance, and general product training both on- and offshore on the Schilling Robotics product line.
Where: Commuting distance from Houston base office, with 40 to 70 percent overnight travel.
For Whom: Schilling Robotics
The 411: The ideal candidate for the field service engineer position should have at least two years of experience with heavy, work-class ROVs and associated equipment. Travel will be onshore and off-, and requiring overnight stays lasting up to six weeks, and a passport will be necessary. The field service engineer will be using a wide variety of test equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, OTDRs, and high-voltage insulation resistance testers. Apply here.

Improve Water Quality in this Fast-Growing Industry
Founded by Chemical Engineering professors from MIT, Koch Membrane Systems has been producing water-purification technologies since the 1960s. The available field service/control engineer position will be based out of the Wilmington, Mass. headquarters, but requires about 70 percent travel, both domestic and sometimes international. Core duties will be to perform customer support activities involving the service, installation, commissioning, maintenance, modification, and repair of Koch Membranes and Koch Membrane Systems. Their OSSID Division specializes in producing weight-price labeling machines, and is seeking a field service electrical technician. They are seeking an experienced electrician to provide installation, troubleshooting, customer training, and factory floor support. The position is based in Rocky Mount, N.C. and requires 50 percent domestic travel. The applicant should have familiarity with PLC/PC SCADA systems, customer service skills, and three to five years of experience in machinery repair.
