Hostel Bookers is running a game of photo tag and were kind enough to include us in their inaugural post. I love going back through photographs that I haven’t looked at recently. Each one tells a story and reminds me of a precious moment in time.
Going to Antarctic is a once in a lifetime experience and there is no way that we’re heading there without a full bag of camera equipment and electronics to capture every moment. With each trip we keep adding to our gear list and now we have gotten to the point where our electronics are definitely outweighing our clothes and other gear.
It wasn’t something we would normally sign up for when traveling. We’ve been all over the word and while we enjoy eating food, we had never thought of learning how to cook it.
As we are in Antarctica, we are having the trip of a lifetime. It has been an unbelievable experience witnessing nature at its finest. The words that come to mind are awe inspiring, magnificent, magical and spectacular. Just when you think that a day can’t be topped, the next is more extraordinary.

We had our trepidations about crossing the Drake Passage. They are the roughest seas in the world and 20,000 sailors have lost their lives exploring these waters. In the 21st century things are much better for passengers cruising to Antarctica. Our ship, the Sea Spirit has state of the art stabilizers and Captain Peter has been sailing these seas for over a decade.
It was nearly a year ago that we were in New Zealand with the Flying Kiwi and had the trip of a lifetime taking part one thrill seeking day after another. If you love an adventure, New Zealand is the place for you!
