show your love for @whymommy — join us!
by amy on January 23, 2012
We are rallying to show support for our sweet friend Susan, @whymommy, and we’re calling out the big guns.
Because Susan’s complete and utter awesomeness has reached sooo far across cyberspace and beyond, Susan’s buddies from The DC Moms would like to extend an invitation to anyone and everyone who has been touched by our pal to contribute to a ‘@whymommy love fest’.
Here’s the skinny:
- @whymommy love fest: We’re making THE most incredible digital card that has ever been made to show Susan just HOW much she is loved.
We want her to know that she rocks (because she totally does).
We want her to know that she is loved (because she totally is).
We want her to know that she has made a difference in more people’s lives than she will ever know (because she has).
We want her to know that she is an incredible mother, friend, scientist, writer, blogger, daughter, sister–you name it (because she is all of that and more).

We want her to feel our collective strength standing behind her (because that’s where we are!).
We want her to know that she not alone (because we are all right her with her).

- send any medium-sized photo(s) you want;
- send along a caption, a signature [xoxo amy] OR [praying for you, my friend! love, Maddy] OR a Bible verse, saying, few lines of a poem, whatevah!! Something we can add in 1-2 slides on iMovie;

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
And even if contributing to this kind of thing is not your cup of tea–which is totally cool–if you could lift our friend in prayer, she will feel it.

Already done! I love this. How often, after all, do we have an opportunity in life to meet someone and have only positive memories of them? Susan is such a gift. Thanks for leading this effort!

Susan has been an unwavering light. I am so grateful to participate in an effort to return some of what she has given to us so gracefully and selflessly.

I’m on it.

While so many of the BlogHer Voices entries were amazing that year, Susan’s piece is the one I continue to think about regularly. It was a powerful piece, so raw and vulnerable and it absolutely changed the way I think about awareness campaigns.
I just sent in a picture for the project and am humbled to be a part of such a wonderful gesture.

I think you guys are positively the BEST friends a girl could ever hope to have. I only came to know Susan within the past five months and she is ONE VERY special mommy, indeed. I am challenged and overwhelmed here with an eerily similar situation. Same age, one young child, same lung issues, bone stuff…. I had every intention of sending a note but I found out about my friend yesterday afternoon. Was blindsided. And now I’m totally useless. If someone can tell Susan that chemobrainfog said “hey” … and that she’s in my thoughts every moment….. EVERY moment… and I am holding her close….
Thanks so much… You guys really are special…. SO special….

Oh no, I missed the deadline…. I’m in the UK but found toddlerplanet a few months ago and have been so inspired by such a good soul. Praying for her and her family….

I just want to thank you for giving us all this venue to say something to Susan without maudlin, yukky stuff that does more for us than for her. These films make me proud – to be a woman, a blogger, a DC Mom and a human person, even. I know enough about production to know how long these effortless-looking productions must have taken, and they are beautiful even independent of their content.
When women want to love a friend, our power is stunning. And that’s thanks to the Production Team as well as all the loving friends.
Yay @whymommylovefest!
