Blogger Crush: Ashley from Hither & Thither
Posted on | February 9, 2012 | 7 Comments
Oh my, I just adore the gorgeous blog Hither and Thither. It’s a lifestyle and travel blog by married couple, Ashley and Aron. They started it as a way to archive their adventures as newlyweds when they first moved to NYC but it has grown to include art, style, food, travel and most recently an adorable baby boy named Hudson. The blog continues to document their sweet family adventures around town (like swimming lessons!) and elsewhere with beautiful photography and heartfelt writing. Ashley and Aron make parenthood in New York City look easy and fun (she will probably kill me for saying that) but it’s true. I had the pleasure of meeting Ashley in person and she is a doll. You know those women you want to sit and have a latte with because they’re just warm and genuine and lovely? That’s so totally the kind of gal Ashley is. And I swear one of these days we will get that latte. Until then, I’ll have to settle for crushing on her from a far and blog visiting with her and her precious family
The Perfect Cookie

I think cookies are my favorite of all the sweet treats. I mean, let me clear, I love them all. But it’s hard to top a perfectly chewy, buttery cookie with chocolate chips and other delights inside (I like my cookies with a lot of stuff in them). For a long time I really struggled with from scratch cookies, they always came out too cakey. But now I’ve found a fool-proof recipe and my life is so much better. I always start with the same base dough, but I keep changing the stuff I put inside and it seems to not matter. Because they always turn out awesome. This past weekend I made dark chocolate and oatmeal cookies for the Super Bowl, and they were a hit. Here’s two of those guys.
I would highly recommend adding this cookie recipe to your arsenal. I basically use this recipe from Martha Stewart.
-The only change I make is that I only use three cups of flour, not three and half cups like the recipe calls for.
-I also just add 3 cups total of whatever combination of delicious thingys I feel like in that particular batch of cookies. Be it, chocolate, nuts, coconut, oatmeal, toffee, butterscotch, raisins, you get the idea.

If the Shoe Fits

These are my newest shoe acquisition. No, your eyes do not deceive you: these are in fact the hottest shoes that ever existed. I never knew I needed hot pink, suede, platform wedges but now I can’t imagine my world without them. And the best part is they are even more awesome in person. I picked these babies up at Aldo and I have to tell you they are oddly but perfectly comfortable. There are few things better than a sexy pair of shoes, don’t you agree?
p.s. I’m not one to miss an opportunity to use a Sixteen Candles reference. That’s just the kind of gal I am.

I Love the Shit Out of You Print by Emily McDowell. For sale HERE.
Now, I’m not one to curse. Just kidding, I totally have the unapologetic mouth of a sailor. But the truth is I do. I do love the shit out of you people. And I’m going to try and figure out what direction I want to take this lil’ blog. You know, see what tricks I have up my sleeve. I do so hope you’ll come along with me while I figure things out. Because this blog is my baby and y’all are so kind to listen to my crazy ramblings and ridiculous attempts at humor and I appreciate it so darn much. So thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Now that I’ve showered you with the appropriate amount of love and sweetness, will you do something for me? Will you make sure we are appropriately connected through all the various social media channels? I wouldn’t want you to be without a dose of Amy when you need it. And all you have to do is click the cute lil’ banners I made. So with that, let’s go have a fabulous weekend shall we?
