In 2002 Barbara Ross-Denroche and Dr. Rosie Steeves, two highly respected authorities on leadership and organizational development, joined forces to address a significant need in their industry for a deep, holistic, quality approach. From the outset, their goal was to be bold, to be honest, and to be steadfastly committed to excellence. The result is a different kind of consulting firm.

We wanted to build a firm that took traditional leadership and management training to a new level by combining the best elements of strategic consulting and training and development, with an innovative learning design. The Refinery is a design and delivery firm for leadership and management development. Working from our client’s strategic performance needs, we design learning experiences that will fit, in whatever form that may be. Our team then delivers the experiences with progressive, engaging, and high-quality methods. The results are individual, team, and organizational growth.

Since those early days, we’ve evolved into an organization with the depth and foundation of a large consulting company, while maintaining the nimbleness of a small entrepreneurial organization. Through all the changes, we’ve never wavered from the values that drove us to set up shop.
