the news

Y’all are too much.

I loved reading your guesses.

Some made me smile.

Buying a cow? Not it, but I do kinda like that idea.
Another pony? Hmmmm….
Going blond? The funny part was how I’d look after my over-processed fell out.

Some made me cry.

Victoria getting engaged? Not my baby! Engaged?
Getting a new puppy? Seriously, Seamus is enough puppy for everyone.
And moving… again? Makes me teary just thinking about it.

And some made me positively queasy.

Being pregnant? Oh my. No. NO. NOOOOOOOO!!

Our joyful news is a beautiful little blessing from China. But it’s not a boy.

It’s a girl!

urgent

Amanda from Starfish Foster Home needs help in the most immediate kind of way.

She has recently been diagnosed with cancer, and upon further testing, it has become clear that she needs to get the very best care – in the US or Europe. Do you or does anyone you know serve as a senior administrator at a top quality cancer center?

Please take a moment to read the note below from the Starfish Board of Directors and see if you, or someone you know, can help Amanda, a woman who has selflessly dedicated the last 7 years of her life to caring for the least of these in China. To date, Amanda and her team at Starfish Foster home have have taken care of 168 children, arranged more than 190 surgeries and had 72 international adoptions.

Amanda needs our help, not for her babies this time, for herself. I pray that all of us in the adoption community will do all we can to spread the word – to find her to a top-level cancer center, where she can get the very best care.

From the Starfish Board of Directors; Tuesday end of day EST, Feb 7th, 2012,

Dear Starfish Friends and Family,

As you know, our Executive Director and beloved friend Amanda has cancer, and is in great need of immediate, top quality medical care.

We need to get her to a modern facility/hospital in the United States or Europe as soon as possible. We are urgently asking each of you for a very specific kind of help.

If you or someone you know has contact with a top senior level administrator at a quality cancer center, please let us know immediately. We need to know if they would be willing to let Amanda come and receive the complicated care she needs – pro bono – as their way of helping a person who has given the past 7 years of her life saving hundreds of babies through donated, medical care. Perhaps they would be willing to now do the same for her. This can only be the very highest level of hospital contact – we are short on time and need answers immediately.

If you, or someone you know, has this kind of highest level connection to a top cancer care center, please contact Patrick McLaughlin as soon as possible, at:

Patrick
917-494-7691 or paddymac0130@gmail.com — any time of the day or night — time is of the essence.

Sincere thanks,
Patrick and the Starfish Board

some news on Gus. and some news on us.

I had to share with y’all who have been so gracious to pray and help spread the word about this precious little peanut. Gus has found his forever family. So very excited for the little guy, I can hardly stand it. And, in case you’re wondering… it’s not us, y’all. But we do have a [...]

Gus. again.

Oh my, y’all. This little guy is still waiting for his family to find him. His file is with Lifeline and will return to the shared list at the end of this week if a family does not come forward for him. I can speak personally of Lifeline. We LOVE them and consider them to [...]

Sunday Snapshot: {Asher}

spacer

This week’s Sunday Snapshot is all Asher. After all, he’s gone through pretty big changes lately. Started homeschooling. And got his smile back. Joined his dad and me on the Daniel Fast. And found a new appreciation for eating more healthfully. He got the big buzz cut. And decided he’s going to keep it that [...]

favorite photo friday

spacer

Not what you were expecting, huh? Me neither. But after getting these bad boys in the mail today, I realized just how very, very nearsighted I am. So, for this Friday, my favorite photo is less about the photo. And more about what’s in the photo… my new favorite thing. Thanks so much to everyone [...]

he didn’t get the memo. You know, the doggie memo. That shoes and sticks and balls are for chewing. And that prickly pine cones? Are not. But I guess I shouldn’t have expected anything less from our boy. Seamus has been known to do his own thing. And, in general, prefers to veer from the [...]

and the winners are…

spacer

Without further ado, the God Is Love tee winners. But first, I just wanted to say how much I *loved* reading y’all’s comments. I mean, L.O.V.E.D. it. I guess I was just expecting a short “since 2009″ or something. But y’all… well, y’all are awesome. And made me smile so very big, many times over. [...]

the winners. and a request.

Have chosen the the God Is Love tee winners and will post those later today. First things first… I am asking y’all to lift up David Bompart in prayer. Many of you already know about him and are praying hard for his recovery. Keep on praying! But for those who don’t know, David and his [...]
