A Story of Kismet

Life is a destiny of sorts. When you look up and see an endless ocean of stars, just as there are billions upon billions of people in the world, it is difficult to single out just one star that sparkles for you, and only just for you. It can be likened to finding a true friend. It is truly rare to find someone that you can connect with, and when you find that person, it is what you call would fate – kismet, so to speak.

The foundation of a relationship, whether it is for love or friendship, is based on the things you have in common, and the trust and shared experiences grow from there. It allows you to do away with all the pretense of being friends just because you went to the same school together, you grew up together, you worked together, and so on and so forth.

It was a chance we both took, leaving ourselves open and vulnerable to each other, whom we have never met in the “real” world. We are both nearly the same age, from the East Coast, we know Jersey and New York style, and have a heavy background in Italian. Finding someone on the internet, discovering kinship, and building a friendship without ever meeting in person is a gift.

We have been friends over the internet for more than three years. We just hit it off. We are like jam and bread, two peas in a pod, left foot and right foot, or whatever anecdote you can think of. Our strengths play off of each other, and slowly we have become such fantastic friends. In the course of our long correspondences over the years with Camille in New York, and Marie traveling between France and Japan, we have come up with so many ideas from outrageously hair-brained to brilliant! It would seem such a shame to not be able to share them with you.

We since then have given birth to MyFudo. It is pronounced as “my – foo – dough.” “Fudo” is the Japanese word for “food.” It is a site that talks about our love for food, life in general, where the East meets the West, and where ideas collide and jive to blow your mind!
