How to Design Your Own Wedding Flip Flops

Posted February 9, 2012 | ♥ Leave a Comment!

When my sister was planning her wedding, I asked her what shoes she was planning to wear. “Shoes?“, she asked. She’s not a shoes gal. Instead, she said she’d wear flip flops and she hoped guests could do the same. The wedding was outdoors in Northern Michigan near a lake, so flip flops were especially appropriate, and completely comfortable. Today, we’re sharing how to design your own wedding flip flops with help by the lovely folks at Sandalista. These wedding flip flops are different than you may think. Instead of adding a bow here or a rhinestone there, these wedding flip flops make it possible for you to add your own custom photos, graphics, or select from a collection of professionally created designs by artisans. Ranch Wedding: Bryan + Amanda Saddle Up

Posted February 8, 2012 | ♥ 2 Comments

Saddle up and ride along with Bryan and Amanda as you take a gander at this beautiful ranch wedding. The good times flowed as groomsmen laughed about old times, bridesmaids kicked up their boots, and Bryan and Amanda got hitched. Their wedding had some unique touches like the mason jars that decorated the landscape and the western wedding attire, not to mention the horse and carriage which featured a driver to escort them around the ranch. Justin from Justin Battenfield Photography captured their beautifully detailed wedding which told their unique love story. We wish Bryan and Amanda happy trails as they ride off into the sunset and enjoy life’s many adventures together.

How to Plan a Blush Pink Wedding

Posted February 7, 2012 | ♥ 2 Comments

If you love pink and want to tie it into your wedding (without it looking like a pink explosion), you’re in luck! Today, we’re sharing with you how to plan a blush pink wedding to suit your wedding style without looking like a five year old’s birthday party. Blush pink is softer than other pink shades and when you incorporate neutrals (such as gold, grey, ivory, or black) the palette will really pop. Read on to find out three ultimate tips for planning your wedding with this pretty pink PLUS check out a few handmade wedding accessories to inspire you.

Blush Pink Wedding

1. Be subtle and use sparingly.

The key to a perfect blush pink wedding is subtlety. Even though your primary shade is blush, be sure to use it sparingly throughout the decor to highlight the shade rather than overwhelm the palette. Decor is a great starting point, as shown below in this Real Wedding example:

Guest Book Alternative and Icebreaker for Guests

Posted February 5, 2012 | ♥ 1 Comment

Happy Sunday! On Friday, we showed you how to turn your wedding vows into art as a lasting keepsake in your home. Now, we’re bringing you another brilliant keepsake idea but this one includes your guests. Instead of a traditional guest book (or in addition to), place these miniature booklets at each table for guests to write in words of advice. We’ve talked about guest book alternative advice cards before, but this one is different: instead of placing this guest book alternative in a separate area of your reception, one book is placed at each table. This means you’ll have a keepsake to remember guests at each table AND it proves to be a great icebreaker for guests to laugh, talk, and share their favorite words of wisdom for you to read post honeymoon. It makes a great icebreaker!

Wedding Vow Art

Happy Friday! Today, we’re talking about wedding vows: are you writing your own, opting for traditional vows, or a little bit of both? Either way, you’ll love this wedding vow art by the lovely folks at B is for Brown. This wall art makes a brilliant gift for the bride and groom, who can submit the answers to the statement: “I promise to…” When reading one couple’s custom example, I couldn’t help but smile and get a bit teary-eyed as I read what the groom wrote to his bride. His promises included things like, “open all the jars with difficult lids”, “let you borrow my sweatpants”, and “sip your cocoa first to make sure it isn’t too hot for you.” The bride’s answers were sweet, too, with promises like, “I promise to… make your birthday a big deal”, “give you the last bite (most of the time)”, and my personal favorite: “play halo with you even though I’m bad at it”.
