Taking the Guesswork Out of Air & Moisture ManagementAir infiltration takes a tremendous toll on a building and its occupants. Energy demands increase as heated or cooled air escapes, moisture and condensation collect in the walls and the structure and its environment begin to deteriorate. Studies have shown that up to 40% of energy consumption in buildings is caused by air leakage and premature building failures are at 3-5% or several billion dollars. Air barriers are designed to stop the movement of air (and the water vapor it contains) under pressure. They are only effective, though, when designed as a holistic, continuous system. To be effective, they must be continuous from below-grade to the roof line. Providing continuity at transitions is critical. Air Barrier Systems Designed to PerformTremco offers the industry's only comprehensive vapor-permeable and vapor-retarding air barrier systems formulated for compatibility:
When used as a comprehensive, compatible system, Tremco is also the only manufacturer that will warrant the system against air and moisture infiltration. Tested, Proven SolutionsWith our unique position as a manufacturer of building components from the foundation to the roof, Tremco has made a commitment to put them together for a true "high performance building testing program" to afford consultants, specifiers, construction managers-at risk, contractors and ultimately building owners assurance of long-term performance of the building envelope and not just individual components.

Air & Moisture Management Tremco has set a new industry standard with the inclusion of Proglaze ETA (Engineered Transition Assembly) with its air barrier assembly ASTM E2357 (Standard Test Method for Determining Air Leakage of Air Barrier Assemblies) testing. This includes measurement of the air leakage that results when the air barrier wall assembly is combined with a window and/or curtain wall system as compared to air leakage through a solid wall with the air barrier assembly. Used as a comprehensive system, the trial and error is eliminated as well as the risk. There is no more uncertainty or interpretation required on the job. Specification and installation are simplified. Tremco has also gone beyond traditional manufacturer testing with its latest addition to the Vapor-Permeable Air Barrier offering. While there are no standard tests for UV resistance, ExoAir 230 Fluid-Applied Vapor-Permeable Air Barrier Membrane was subjected to more than double the number of cycles for accelerated exposure at 100 F/100% RH of competitive manufacturers and still looks as good as new after two years. ASTM E 84 testing of ExoAir 230 for flame spread and smoke development shows it can contribute to the protection of life safety. While no other air barrier manufacturer has included sealants or other components in this testing, Tremco has done testing of the other components used within the air barrier system, including the connections with silicone sealant and silicone sheet.
