20 Below Thursday #59

Well, I made it through SEVEN IEPs today – ahhh!  I am SO tired, and just feel drained after only getting 5 hrs of sleep for the past few nights…and just going NON-STOP during the days.  SO looking forward to a weekend…just have to get through 2 more school days spacer

I have not touched a crafting project, BUT I’m looking forward to seeing all of YOUR creativity, and I can’t wait to see what amazing projects are linked up this week!

I will only feature people who have my button (or a text link) in either their post or their sidebar!

spacer

(The button can be taken on the right sidebar)

Here’s the rules:

  • You must have the button or a text link on your blog, either in your sidebar, or in your actual post
  • Post to your craft directly, not simply your main blog page.
  • DO NOT advertise your Etsy shop or give-away through this linky party.
  • Link up as many projects as you would like! Just make sure they are something that YOU have made yourself.
  • The total cost for your project must be under $20.
  • No repeats please! Try to keep the links fresh and new…no one likes to see the same project every week!
  • Please visit at least one other craft and leave a kind comment. We all love comments!

I will spotlight my favorite projects on Sunday!

By the way, while you’re here, come check out my Etsy shop…everything is under $20!

Sunday Features #57 & #58

If you subscribe to my blog through Google Friend Connect, you will no longer receive my posts through your readers effective on March 1.  PLEASE re-subscribe through RSS (link on the right) or through LinkyFollowers (link also on the right).  I don’t want to lose you!!

I warned you…there’s going to be a LOT of thrifty inspiration packed into this post, because I missed last Sunday’s post!  Here we go:

I LOVE coffee…and I am SO doing this in my house when we have more room!  I loooove this coffee station from Rustic Living:

These spheres from Hill Country Homebody are so on-trend, and the price is right because she thought to use embroidery hoops!  Love it!

spacer

Wow I LOVE this table make-over from Hating Martha … can you believe it only cost $11.97?!?!  Amazing!

spacer

I really love pillows – and these sweater pillows from Alderberry Hill are so sweet!

spacer

Here’s a great tutorial from DIY kinda girl for how to spray-paint a faucet instead of replacing them…much thriftier this way!

Finally – this pantry door re-do from Stone and Rose is super cute!

Wow – what amazing projects!  I’ll be pinning these on my Pinterest “Features” board!

{light} Superbowl Snacks

Are you last minute like me? We’re probably just staying home for the Superbowl this year (I have 8 IEPs to be writing this weekend…yay?) but the hubby & I thought it would be fun to make some appetizers even if it’s just us! So we’re having fun drooling over some great recipes. BUT most of them are loaded with fat & calories, so we’re searching for some lighter alternatives. They’re not HEALTH food…but this is a way to still have the Superbowl appetizer feel without feeling so guilty afterwards! spacer

Here’s some we’re considering:

Skinny Buffalo Chicken Dip:

What about you?  Who are you rooting for?  Will you be eating the typical Superbowl food, or would you try one of these with me?  I think they all look AMAZING!

20 Below Thursday #58

It’s been a whirlwind few days over in “my neck of the woods”… and I totally did NOT get to feature your amazing projects on Sunday!  In my defense…we did drive over 525 miles on Sunday! So I’m planning on doing a MASSIVE features post this upcoming Sunday with features from both parties!  Yay! spacer

I’m looking to seeing all of YOUR creativity, and I can’t wait to see what amazing projects are linked up this week!

Valentine’s Pillow {placemat make-over}

I shared this tutorial with At Home with K readers last week, but I wanted to share it with all of you as well!

I am so not typically a “Valentines Day” girl – but I had a lot of fun making this pillow!  The awesome thing about this pillow is that it requires VERY basic sewing skills – no machine required!  I swear that anyone could make this pillow! spacer

spacer

It all started when I saw this sweet pillow on Pinterest:

I figured I’d just put my own spin on it!  To minimize the sewing, I used a thrifty placemat I got from a local discount store:

spacer

I used a seam-ripper to take out the seams on the right and left sides of the place mat:

spacer

Then I cut out some fleece hearts (it was a fabric remnant on a great sale) using a piece of piece of folded fleece:

spacer

Then I lined up the hearts & just attached them temporarily with tape until I could sew them on:

spacer

Then I hand-sewed the hearts on using a contrasting thread:

spacer

Once I got them all sewn on, I sewed ribbon on between the hearts and did a little stitch in the middle of each heart as well.  This was a little difficult, but I used a thick needle and some muscle and it worked spacer

Then I stuffed it with some batting and hand-stitched the sides closed.  And it’s finished! spacer

I think it’s so cute – and I love that it doesn’t have to be all pink & red, but it’s still an appropriate decoration for Valentines Day!

I also love that it only cost me $1.99, because I had everything else on hand!
