The Thirteen Habits

date: Jun 30, 2011 | by: Kathy

Kathy’s Thirteen Habits of Bliss

The Bliss Habit’s experiment is based loosely on Ben Franklin’s habit of concentrating on Thirteen Virtues which he felt would cause him to be a better person. Ben kept track of his virtues daily, giving himself a “black mark” in a small notebook when he failed to live up to that virtue. He also cycled through each of his virtues, spending a week, four times each year, concentrating on, studying and encouraging the particular virtue. This is the practice I have duplicated for encouraging the habits of bliss. (Go here if you want to read more about how this whole thing started.)

Each week I concentrate on one of the Habits. I create games to play, I study, reflect and learn as much as possible about the Bliss “virtues” and take you along for the ride. My intention is to inspire and encourage people from all walks of life to add a little more Bliss to their lives. (If you are wondering, “Why Bliss?” I answer that here.)

I have created a Resource Page (some are still under construction)  for each of the Bliss Habits which is designed to give you tools and resources you might need to cultivate that Habit RIGHT NOW. (Click the links in the list below to go to the corresponding Resource Pages) You are welcome to follow along as I cycle through each of the Habits The home page  (small green house button at top of blog) will tell you which of the Habits we are currently concentrating on. Of course you are also welcome to delve into any of the topics that interests you at any time.. I offer a complete Bliss Buffet, if you will, and invite you to sample everything!

A sumptuous bowl of lemons, oranges, and limes…

…sits on a table in the sunlight. They look fresh and bright and oh-so-juicy, with skin so perfect it’s as if they were created by an artist. Imagine their scent, so vivid and clean… envision cutting them into chunks, the juice running through your fingers, and the fresh citrus smell circulating through the air, clearing all the dusty thoughts from your head…

    Musical accompaniment for your journey…
