Bonjour & Welcome to Cajunlicious!

“When the taste changes with every bite and the last bite is as good as the first, that’s Cajun.”

This blog is about “All Things Cajun.” I will be sharing my love of Cajun food as well as New Orleans history and culture. Having been born and raised in New Orleans I grew up eating Cajun food since I can remember and now as an adult it is a comfort go to food.

Throughout this blog, I will share Traditional Cajun recipes that I grew up watching my Grandmother and Mother cook. I will also do “Cajun in a cinch” which will turn a day’s worth into no time at all. I will also include some healthier tips to lighten up all those yummy Cajun dishes.

I will include a travel section as well, featuring New Orleans. Featured in this section will be restaurants, hotels, shopping, site seeing and 10 things you must do while visiting New Orleans.

Happy Eating!

About Me

spacer

I’m Jessica the girl behind the blog and now the cookbook. Growing up, the kitchen was the most important room in the house. No matter what was going on, we could gather in the kitchen to eat, laugh, and enjoy being together.

I was born and raised 25 minutes from downtown New Orleans and in this part of the country; food is more than simple sustenance. Food has always been a part of my life. After Sunday mass, relatives of all ages gathered at my grandparent’s house to get together around the kitchen and fill plates and bowls with gumbo, potato salad, etouffee and jambalaya. After the eating, came the stories and hours of laughter. This is where my experience and inspiration come from. Although I have no formal culinary training, I feel I may have received the best training of all from watching my mother, grandmothers, and great-grandmother in the kitchen.

I have been very lucky to travel and introduce my palette to many wonderful and exotic flavors, but nothing excites my taste buds quite like Cajun food. Not only is Cajun food a comfort for me, but also it is fun to cook.

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

I hope you enjoy the blog and the recipes….because behind every great meal, is an even better story!

Absolutely LOVE your blog, Jessica! Although I can’t claim any Cajun heritage at all, I can definitely claim a great love of all things Cajun. They used to tease me about the time my mom asked me what I wanted for my birthday and my quick response was, “To be a Cajun!” Thanks for all you do!

This blog seems to recieve a great deal of visitors. How do you get traffic to it? It gives a nice individual twist on things. I guess having something useful or substantial to give info on is the most important factor.
