Montauk Blitz

October 12th, 2011 | News | 0 Comments

I have been out fishing the crazy Montauk Point bass migration these past few weeks. However, the last few days have been the most impressive. Columbus Day I had the pleasure of taking out a new client with his wife (both brand new to fishing in the area) and they caught more fish then they could have dreamed of. In just four hours we totalled twenty False Albacore, and a couple of stripers as well. For someone who is new to fishing, this is where you should start: the action is hot, and the technique is down right simple. So long as you can mimic the sand eels or bay anchovies (as the albies where chowing on, in this instance) hookups will happen. Unfortunately, it was a zoo out there and a lot of boats were powering over schools of fish, only o break them up. Luckily, we setup a few ambush points with the engines off and the fish started feeding right within casting distance!

Out with Plum Magazine

June 10th, 2011 | News | 0 Comments

On Thursday we had the pleasure of cruising around the bay with a few folks from Plum Magazine, which is one of the highest end magazines out there. We picked the party up from the Pier in Sag Harbor and gave them a tour of the scenery. We saw great houses and even had the pleasure of saluting a Navy Submarine as it cruised through the bay. After the tour of the area, Capt. Max broke out the chow and served some stunning dishes that all revolved around the local atmosphere. Even better, they were paired with Wolfer Estates Rose! After lunch we brought them to Shelter Island and then cruised back to the Pier.

Fishing in Montauk 06/08/10

June 10th, 2011 | News | 0 Comments

We recently took a charter out that wanted to target bass and fluke. We headed to Montauk and hit the rips and sandy-bottom for bass and fluke respectively. After two and a half hours, our quota was reached and we soon returned to Montauk to drop off the guests. All in all, it was a great day because of the water temperature and tides.

May 5th, 2011 – We are very excited for the 2011 Season, and look forward to working with our customers and hope to build long-term relationships over the next few months. Personally, I have been working on a lot of recipes to feature on the cruise of your choice featuring local ingredients: Ceviche, Tare-Tare, and lobster-salad to name a few.

Also, in terms of the fishing season, I have just gotten word that the Dolphin-fish population is rapidly advancing up the coast and should hit us fairly soon in the Atlantic. Furthermore, I was recently on the horn with Captain Merritt White of Gunkholin’ Charters . While the fishing has been a little slow due to the water temperature, him and his network have been able to confirm keeper-sized bass here and there; catch em’ up at SkiffGuide.Com
