About

By day, I’m a designer. But by night, I’m a baker. Truth be told, I love baking more than designing, but I’m putting the husband through graduate school so I need to keep a stable job. Yes, I’m a sugar momma—which is fitting in more ways than one.

My style is simple. Or better yet, classic. I’m a pearls and button-up oxford kind of girl. And my baking philosophy is no different. I love perfecting the classics—brownies, croissants, yellow cake, scones, chocolate chip cookies, genoise, macarons… And once they are perfected, they make their way on here, my cyber cookbook. Life is simpler with a handful of good recipes up your sleeve.

I’m a believer in making everything from scratch. Partly because I love the process so much. And partly because I like to know what’s in my food. I guess you could call me a purist. Most importantly, though, it tastes a billion times better, no exaggeration. So put that box down and give baking from scratch a try. I promise to bestow every tip and trick I know to make it easier.

Why this name, you ask? In high school my friends started calling me Betty Crocker. Not the most common nickname for a high schooler. By college it had morphed into Martha, short for none other than Martha Stewart. Believe me, it’s not a fair comparison, but it stuck. So much so that my grandma still calls me Martha.
