The Trouble With Existence: Ramblings & Thoughts From The Inner Rim
You have to Be.
You can’t be me and I can’t be you so I’ll be me and you be you. Enjoy your time cause it will be up and you’ll be 6 feet down.
You have to Learn:
Electric pulses firing. Young minds inquiring. Thirst for more understanding is human lust – insatiable. Drink in all the books you can. Visit magical worlds and swim in the stars. Trial and error are your tools. Get up after you fall. Use knowledge wisely my children.
You have to Play:
Giggles and running, riding and screaming, crashing and dashing, dancing and twirling, throwing and catching, swimming and diving, building and breaking, smiling and laughing. Play till you die.
You have to Love:
Nothing deeper than its truest form. A world of billions and there is only two. A bond unspoken. A bond unbroken. Hearts melt and butterflies flutter. Glances are made and cherished. Language is muted when love speaks.
You have to Laugh:
Bellowing, tummy tickles of excitement released without hesitation. Elation, ecstasy, bliss and joyous occasions will be realized. Laugh at yourself, laugh at the world, laugh at the follies of yourself in this world. Laugh because you can, laugh because you want to. Laugh because it feels good. Laugh, laugh, laugh, and then laugh some more.
You have to Feel:
Rainbows of emotions complete the circle. Cry when it’s time to cry, Ache when the world hurts, Compassion and caring cultivates your soul. Fear is around you, walk into it. Get mad when anger charges you. Know disgust when it’s disgusting. Jump high when surprised. Know humility at all times. Trust in yourself.
You have to Contribute:
Be something and be somebody. Work hard for your dreams. Help others find their dreams. Give back more than you put in. Make the world better than it was and currently is. Help the helpless. Help everybody. Show a child the correct path. Show a lost soul the correct path. Change the world for the good.
You have to Nurture:
A baby’s cry is wonderful. A baby’s movements are whimsical. A baby is the one and only miracle. Mentor the children. Teach them how to exist and just be happy. Foster creativity and curiosity. Let them run with paints as kings and queens in distant lands. Let them make believe they are fighting dinosaurs or are flying on the back if bugs. Encourage critical thinking. Praise the questions of Why and How. Inspire them to be great. Show the excitement of life through your eyes.
You have to Grow Old:
The journey is all you have, you know the destination. Take time to enjoy life’s beauty. Accept and appreciate the gift of life you have. Your tank of wisdom is filling up. Simple pleasures are easy to recognize. Be noble. Embrace age. Time is a man made construct. Be youthful in heart and mind so you can always play. Your outer vessel is just a transport mechanism for your soul. Learn early on to take care of your temple. Along the way, stop and smell the roses – as many as you can perhaps.
You have to Reflect:
Revelations of your time. How many breathes did you take? How many did you enjoy? What brought you joy? Do you still smile or has the world jaded you? Do you have a partner whom you shared your life with? If so, you are fortunate. Be thankful for your time and the family you have. Be thankful for those you love and those who love you. Know you lived. No regrets. Find your piece of peace.
You have to Die:
It’s inevitable. You can’t run or hide. We are all dying. Live the days in between birth and death like you know tomorrow is the latter. Let your legacy be one of grandiose splendor. The music will always play your song if your time was just. Now, it’s time to rest. Close your eyes, leave with a smile. Open them in whatever after there may or may not be. You have existed and always will.
Final Ramblings
If existence is trouble, then I’m its maker.
One’s perception matters. You matter. We all matter. We’re all matter as a matter of fact. This is the trouble you were looking for.
You found it. You’ve always had it and have been in it. Enjoy it for it can be gone tomorrow.
Your moment is now.
The present is the only reality there is. I’m presently out of my mind and deep within it. That’s the present that was wrapped up in your skull and given to you at birth.
Our existence is nothing but trouble and such splendid trouble it is.

“Visit magical worlds” CONSIDER THAT DONE!!!!
Yo Sal,
Thanks for reading my friend.
I know you’ve visited those magical worlds. I just don’t think you’ve came back though…
Interesting approach on this one and I dig it. There are some scary powerful lines imbedded in your code here. This is one of those posts that demand a second reading, and will bring you back for a third. There’s a lot to take in here, but you composed it well.
Nice work my friend.
Hey Dave,
Thanks for reading. I was just trying to compile some thoughts on what I want to teach my little ones and this is what I ended up with. There’s a whole hell of a lot of wisdom out there and I hope I was able to convey a little of the good stuff that I’ve learned and still learning along the way.
Feel free to add some of your good stuff.
ps this is dave. Still trying to figure out this Disqus thing so I can comment as myself.
