Creative Writing Workshop

Saturday, February 18
9:00am – Noon

spacer Only 6 spots available!

Writing workshops are important to the writing process; they give us direct responses from an audience and help us through the revision process. Also, it is a great way to foster community by connecting with other artists. With these two goals in mind, the workshop will be an open and inclusive environment where we share a passion for the written word and a desire to strengthen our work.

The workshop leader for this class will be Jason Lovato; he is a writer and teacher. Currently, he is enrolled at Antioch University Los Angeles in the writing MFA program for poetry. He holds a Bachelor’s in English and English: Creative Writing.

Trojan Women

March 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 15, 16, 17
Doors 7:30pm; Show 8:00pm

spacer Euripedes’ “The Trojan Women” is a cry of anger and despair in answer to the pain and injustice the playwright saw more than two thousand years ago. We see this cry echoed throughout history in tragedy after unspeakable tragedy – from the inhuman acts of cruelty committed during the Holocaust to the systematic devaluing of other peoples through slavery, segregation, and apartheid. We see this same cry echoed in the voices of demonstrators occupying cities across America, demanding equity and justice. Since the show will be performed at Broadway Performance Hall on Capitol Hill, it is an ideal location to continue exploring this topic further. After each performance, quiet will host talkbacks with several social services organizations. Come see art and join in the conversation!
