About
I am well versed in various hardware and software technologies, from high-capacity photonics system (my doctorate research) to bleeding-edge web technologies (my current day job).
In the last few years, I have been contributing to large-scale open-source projects:
- WebKit (as a reviewer)
- Qt framework (when I was with Nokia)
- KDE (primarily on KOffice)
I am also known through some popular software which I have started and/or maintain:
- PhantomJS, scriptable headless WebKit for browser automation
- Esprima, an extremely fast JavaScript parser written in JavaScript
- SpeedCrunch, high-precision usable desktop calculator
I work as Engineering Director for Sencha, a great startup in the Bay Area, California. My past gigs involved Trolltech, Nokia, and Qualcomm.
To help others learning new programming tips, I have published tons of code examples, covering the topics of graphics, WebKit, JavaScript, network, sensor, widgets, various demos, etc. Every now and then I also speak at various developer conferences (Velocity Conf, Sencha Conference, Nokia Qt Developer Days, Intel AppUp Elements, Camp KDE, Bossa Conf, Linux Tag).
I have a strong academic background (over 30 research papers). At the same time I am also hands-on and practical.
I hold a Ph.D. degree (with great honor) in Electrical Engineering from University of Paderborn (Germany) and Master/Bachelor from Institute of Technology Bandung (Indonesia). My research was focused mainly on photonics systems.
