Welcome to the Hollandz blog.

My name is Brad Holland. By day, I’m a mild mannered web designer/ developer,  customer support guru, and marketing assistant. By night,  I’m a husband and father. I also  freelance as a web designer/ developer, motion graphics artist, advertising creation for digital signage, visual effects student, seo marketing student and now aspiring writer.

I started to this endeavor as an outlet for creativity and all the crazy stuff that entails. Some stuff is just plain out there while some of it is soulful and meaningful.

I love to write and hopefully it will entertain and inspire you to be creative and enjoy the life gifted to you.  If it doesn’t, well just throw a rock at your monitor.

Why Hollandz?

I chose Hollandz.com because my last name is Holland and I thought apostrophe esses (sp) are so outdated they belong in a time capsule next to the  parachute pants.  My wife dislikes the name and tells me it bothers her. She doesn’t know why it bothers her, but I think it has something to do with her grammatically correct upbringing.

Adding ownership or possession of something by using a “Z” means I am hip and artsy.  Lots of great words have Z in them, zing, zip, zilch, Zoolander….Ok  not that many. The real reason added a Z to the end of my last name is that I thought it was cool and I’m a huge dork that really has no idea what cool is besides a polar bears toe nails.

Why do you use a crown for your logo?

This is my kingdom. I am the king of my domain. I have a wife, my queen, a son who is my prince and a daughter who is my princess. To me, my readers, followers, lurkers, and net trolls are all part of my kingdom. Not in the traditional hierarchical sense, because we are all equals, but in the sense that each of us has our own kingdom that we rule. We all have the power to influence those around us. I chose to be an inspiring king so that those around me can grow and be inspired to do the same with their own kingdom.

You are a King or Queen. You wear your own crown and how you choose to help your kingdom is up to you.

 

Why follow me?

I’d like to answer my own question with a question. Why not follow me? I am just an ordinary guy with a family and children who has super powers that I haven’t realized yet. I think my ability to leap over buildings of blocks and refill a sippy cup faster than a speeding bullet puts me in a league of extraordinary gentleman. I am the king of my domain and know more than I should, which means I don’t know much.

Basically, I feel like I am similar to you. I strive to better myself and others in hopes of living a lifestyle that allows me to watch my children grow and provide my family security. As long as I keep improving myself and learning all that I can and share all that I know, things will turn out just fine.

 

Disclaimer: I do tend to use explicit language and paint pictures that will surely offend someone. I’m a gentleman around my wife and son and  keep the language at bay when at home. When I write though, I use the full spectrum of words that are at my disposal, which can be vulgar and raw at times, to get my point across. If you aren’t into that sort of thing, then maybe my writings won’t connect with you and I wish you the best on your journey in this world.

 

All that being said, my motto is simple:

Life is good, Live it up!
