American Tree Sparrow |
Sunday was a great day for seeing birds... just not photographing them.
Let me explain.
Let me explain.
After the eight inches of snow we received, I took the camera equipped with my 50mm lens
to capture some hoar frost.
Afterwards, it was apparent the bird feeders needed filling, so I brought the camera back in and set it down on the dining room table. Grabbed the bird seed bucket and headed back out to the front yard.
I was just about finished when, 10 or so wild turkeys flew into the yard, about 10 feet away from me.
And I kid you not, a red-shouldered hawk flew overhead at the same time.
Did I have my camera? Nope. Even if I did, it wouldn't have had the right lens on it.
Rats.
I did venture back out with the 70-300mm and sat under the pine trees for a bit,
hoping the turkeys or the hawk would return.
They didn't.
But I did get a good photo of a downy woodpecker.
Did you take any interesting photos this weekend?
Or were you in Super Bowl mode?
