ABOUT THE NEW JEWISH FILMMAKING PROJECT

Since 2002, 50 emerging Jewish storytellers, ages 15 to 25, have collaborated with Citizen Film’s team of documentary professionals to create sophisticated, intensely personal short films.

The films of the NJFP have been viewed by more than 300,000 people to date through public television broadcasts, exhibition in classrooms nationwide, and at community art spaces in the U.S. and Europe, ranging from the Contemporary Jewish Museum of SF to the Warsaw Cinematheque. The New Jewish Filmmaking Project, produced by Citizen Film, is a program of the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival, which premieres NJFP films at its showcase annual event.

In 2010, the New Jewish Filmmaking Project launched a new interactive multi-media presentation on the theme "Half-remembered stories," including 50 short films and 11 interactive digital documentaries.

These intensely personal stories offer a set of signposts for what Jewish identity has been and is becoming.
