Twitter Trivia: Grammys Trivia Questions Recap

Grammys Twitter Trivia Questions and Answers

Each week on Twitter, @Seamless (that’s us) runs a trivia contest where the first person to answer each question correctly earns a $10 Seamless discount code. We usually have 4 or 5 questions spread throughout the day, all related to a weekly theme, so there are plenty of chances to win. Here’s a recap of this week’s questions…and answers.

Trivia theme of the week: Grammys

  • Before the name “Grammy” was decided upon, what was one original working title for the music award? And who was it honoring? @chadmd23 knows his history!
  • On what date was the first Grammy Awards ceremony held? AND who won Album of the Year, for which album? @tracy_eff owns the album and plays it on repeat.
  • Where are the gold-plated #Grammys trophies made and assembled? AND by what company? @baker18 has also won a few of the trophies himself!
  •  Songs about food are the best! If you were to write a food song, what would food be + what would title be? So in love with Guacamole, @SuperflyJSnuka sings about it!
  • #Grammy categories have been restructured, so [(categories in 2011)-(categories in 2012)]/(#2012 album of yr nominees)= ? @nicole1083 is really good at math.

Follow @Seamless for your chance to win $10 in next week’s Twitter Trivia.

Seamless Eater of the Week: Jordan in NYC

Seamless’ Member of the Week Profile: Jordan

Every week, we ask a different Seamless member questions about ordering food online, food in general, and other fun topics. This week we have Jordan, Daily Candy editor who has curated a fantastic list of Seamless restaurants!

spacer Name: Jordan

Age:  26

Occupation: New York Editor at DailyCandy.com.

How and When Did You Discover Seamless? It was around 2007 when I was visiting friends in the city. I didn’t understand why a site for ordering food sounded like a Hanes product.

Where Do You Use Seamless? I primarily use Seamless from my sofa, but sometimes I’ll order from my smaller, slightly less comfortable sofa. I’ve also ordered from friends’ apartments and Washington Square Park using the Seamless mobile app.

Favorite Kind of Food: I have tentative plans to co-author a coffee table book about breakfast tacos. (Ed. note: We have tentative plans to pre-order that book.)

Least Favorite Kind of Food: Foie gras looks like cat food.

Favorite Place(s) to Order From on Seamless? Gusto sent me a holiday card/gift certificate for “being such a loyal customer” despite never having set foot in the actual restaurant. I also love Funayama, Bleecker Street Pizza, ‘sNice, Coppelia, Tue Thai, Balade, The Smith, AOC, Fatty Crab, Tea & Sympathy, etc… (Ed. note: That’s a fantastic curated list of Seamless restaurants!)

Least Favorite Thing About Calling Restaurants? I haven’t been a “phone person” since middle school. Also, rattling off your credit card info to a stranger is almost as daring as ordering an omelette (egg whites only, scoop the bagel, extra butter on the side, please don’t forget the avocado like last time) and expecting it to be right.

Closest Previous Brush with Internet Fame? I once worked out with Tracy Anderson in Central Park and footage of that ended up on DailyCandy. I can also be seen doing a back flip, among other things, in several additional DailyCandy videos.

Favorite Celebrity Chef? Andrew Carmellini (The Dutch, Locanda Verde) and Andy Ricker (Pok Pok). As for TV chefs, Ina Garten’s twee, staged phone conversations with Jeffrey are delicious to watch. I’m also pro-Paul Qui from Top Chef: Texas. His food at Uchiko in Austin is serious business.

Favorite Cartoon Growing Up? The Land Before Time. After retiring from show business Littlefoot signed on as my assistant. Here he is looking dapper.

What Superpower Do You Wish You Had? I wouldn’t mind being Sookie Stackhouse. She’s just full of… power.

In the Past Year, What’s the Latest You’ve Stayed Up and Why? Though I did nap on my flight back from Taiwan earlier this month, I was still awake for the better part of 30 hours. (Ed. note: We can bet the food in Taiwan was worth the lack of sleep though!)

Plans for Tonight? It’s Fashion Week so I’ll be stopping by Whitney Pozgay’s presentation (you should check out her line WHIT) before celery gimlet-ing at Saxon + Parole. I’ll tweet and Instagram both, so follow me @CandyNewYork.

E-mail us at thedeliverybag@seamless.com if you’d like to be the next Eater of the Week or if you’d like to suggest a friend!

Our weekly list of Seamless press mentions and restaurant write-ups

Here at Seamless, we work with thousands of restaurants and we love them all equally. But we’re only human, and when blogs and newspapers write about our restaurants, some of them temporarily become more equal than others. Here’s a sampling of where Seamless restaurants made some news last week:

Today’s Seamless Order: Akdeniz in NYC

The Order:

Akdeniz has been a big hit in the office ever since our move to Bryant Park. Every day at least five orders come in to Seamless HQ from the oh-so-popular Middle Eastern restaurant. It’s finally time that I had yet to try it out for myself. As a self-described fan of delicious Middle Eastern cuisine, I was excited to order from this much talked about restaurant.

The Akdeniz menu is extensive and I had a difficult time deciding what to order. While I had heard good things about the meaty sandwiches and entrees, I just couldn’t commit to such a large singular dish. Instead I ordered myself a feast of appetizers. My thinking was that I would be able to judge Akdeniz most effectively by ordering small traditional plates. Ultimately, I chose to order 3 appetizers: Humus, Falafel, and Zucchini Pancakes. I went for traditional and delicious… so let’s see how it tasted.

The Meal:

spacer

The entire Akdeniz feast... for one.

The food arrived on time and perfectly warm. It was packaged well so it maintained its temperature in transit and everything remained in tact. Even though this meal was only meant for one, I did receive 3 sets of utensils. How generous.

The traditional bread that came with the humus was truly great. It was warm and crusty and chewy and salty. It was a perfect accompaniment to the meal, and Akdeniz is really generous with their bread offering. The pieces are large and phenomenal. The Humus itself was creamy and delicious. I could taste the chickpeas and the extra flavorings of olive oil and garlic. If I didn’t have any other dishes to try I probably would have finished the entire container. For normal eaters, this is a great appetizer to share.

Creamy and delicious humus ... with an olive on top!

Next came the Zucchini Pancakes and the Falafel. I found it interesting that the Falafel was not a traditional round ball shape, but I also found it interesting that it tasted absolutely delicious! The Falafel is made with chickpeas, onions and celery that is seasoned with garlic, parsley and herbs and served with tahini sauce. I enjoyed the new shape because it allowed for more surface area to be crispy and fried. The extra crunch was truly exceptional.

The Zucchini Pancakes were quite a nice surprise as well. While it’s hard to go wrong with anything fried, I really didn’t know what to expect. The pancakes were moist and flavorful. They were accompanied by a light yogurt sauce that complimented it nicely. Overall I was absolutely pleased!
