About

I had an idea once, that I could get myself a “home page”. I could draw, I knew the necessary technologies: shortly, the design was ready. And it looked quite cool, although there was a slight problem. Basically, I had no idea what to write about…

All that was in the previous century. Several designs (and years) later writing “About” pages is still not easy. But it seems that besides putting together bearable color palettes and graphical logos, now I also have something I can write about.

Since at the moment I’m mostly a programmer, large part of the Barelyfocused is going to be about programming, and especially the projects I would like to share with the world. However, it turns out that a trained-in-logic mind placed into the real world can often produce things much less practical than algorithms: random thoughts, observations and digressions. So this site is hopefully going to be about that, as well.

About me

I’m Arek Korbik. The web-writer/master/designer of Barelyfocused. Currently twenty-something, and living in the oldest Polish city, Kalisz.

Though it feels like I programmed machines nearly all my life, the list of things I experienced doing (and enjoing, mostly) includes: sculpting, drawing, being a magician, playing musical instruments, acting, playing in an orchestra, travelling, being a demolition expert, translating, consulting, developing on-line games, singing in a vocal group, administering, photographing, researching. This list could be shorter, sure, but I think it may explain the ‘Barelyfocused’ title a bit…

Recently I just try to: keep up with the technology, listen to good music (jazz, mostly), find time for ‘open source’, find time for a good book, find a good light and subject for a picture, work faster and less.
