Bear Breakdown: Safety Position

by Jake Perper
The Bears spent most of the 2011 season looking for continuity at the safety position. They used five different safeties at the position and used over eight different combinations. Veteran Chris Harris disappointed enough to be released after returning in 2010 for his second stint. Major Wright showed flashes, but struggled [...] Continue reading →

Super Bowl 46 Film Review

by Andy Benoit
Giants O vs. Patriots D The Giants had an effective gameplan for what they knew would be a quintessential bend-but-don’t-break defense. Eli Manning did a superb job identifying defensive concepts presnap. The Patriots made it easy on him by not moving around much, but they also made it challenging by mixing [...] Continue reading →

Bears Announce Hiring Of Bates As Quarterbacks Coach

by Jake Perper
The Bears have hired a quarterbacks coach that had a lot of success with quarterback Jay Cutler. Jeremy Bates, who spent three seasons in Denver with Cutler (2006-2008), helped Jay perform at a high level. In 2008, Cutler was voted to the Pro Bowl with his, then career high 25 touchdown passes and 4,526 passing yards. Most importantly, [...] Continue reading →

Last Receiver Bears Selected In The First Round Was Terrell In 2001

by Jake Perper
The last time the Chicago Bears selected a wide receiver in the first round of the NFL Draft was in 2001. With the eighth pick in the 2001 NFL Draft, the Bears snagged University of Michigan wide receiver David Terrell. Terrell was a star at Michigan playing on the same offense as Tom Brady. But he turned out to be one of [...] Continue reading →

Patriots lose Super Bowl 46 to Giants in Indianapolis

by Law Murray
Sorry, Patriots fans.  But for the third consecutive season, the 1SKILLZ Gameplan predicted the end of the New England Patriots' season.  The New York Giants defeated the Patriots 21-17, and Giants QB Eli Manning (30/40, 296 yards, 1 TD, no INTs) won the Super Bowl MVP award, outplaying Patriots QB Tom Brady (27/41, 276 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT). This was a game that the Patriots defense stepped up and played well enough to win, save for three things: *Awful 12-men [...] Continue reading →

Giants vs. Patriots: Official Underwhelming Super Bowl XLVI Post

by Law Murray
If I learned one thing this week, it is that I just want Super Bowl Sunday to come already! While it is exciting to see the team that I am covering play in the Super Bowl this season, giving up on new material is a bit difficult to do considering the 50+ articles from the 2011 NFL season covering the Patriots road to get here have been buried. I like what New England Patriots QB Tom Brady had to say about Super Bowl XLVI: "To everyone else this [...] Continue reading →

AFC wins Pro Bowl … Good for New England?

by Law Murray
This past Sunday was the AFC-NFC Pro Bowl.  For me and the AFC champion New England Patriots, it was the most insignificant Sunday since the summer.  I played in my last flag football game of the season (a 38-28 loss), and the New England Patriots were sent off by a hometown rally, arriving in Indianapolis a day before the NFC champion New York Giants. The Pro Bowl, I hear, was won by the AFC 59-41.  Miami Dolphins WR Brandon Marshall played like he was trying to prove a point, scoring a Pro Bowl record four receiving TDs as the AFC put up the most points in Pro Bowl history.  The [...] Continue reading →

Battle Tested: The Giants Can Win SuperBowl in Trenches

by Craig Santucci
The Super Bowl is one week away. The lights, the cameras, the Maxim Tailgate Party and, at the center of it all, two quarterbacks taking the stage for the second time in four years. This has become an Eli vs. Tom Bowl. So, why am I only consumed with the Giants defensive line vs. the Pats offensive line. Mostly because the memories of the 2007 Super Bowl are still fresh. Watching the absolute mayhem that the Giants defensive line inflicted on Tom Brady was quite a sight as the Arizona desert became a coming-out party for Justin Tuck and swan [...] Continue reading →

Bills coaches are coming and going

by Jeremy Smith
After a season that started off with promise by winning five straight games and ultimately ending horribly with a 6-10 record, Bills Head Coach, Chan Gailey has made some coaching changes since the season ended.  The biggest change was the firing of  defensive coordinator George Edwards. AFC-NFC Pro Bowl 2012: Patriots Bye Week, the 1SKILLZ Gameplan

by Law Murray
The AFC-NFC Pro Bowl will be played Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, HI.  However, note that this is also the bye week for Super Bowl XLVI, and as such, the Pro Bowl players for the AFC champion New England Patriots and NFC champion New York Giants will not play. For all of my Patriots related Pro Bowl posts, check here, here, [...] Continue reading →
