The Success Story Of Benny Hsu

spacer My last post, Bloggers Are Cross Promotion Experts was basically about bloggers helping each other. Today a new friend I met on Google+, Brankica Underwood  with How To Blog Like A Star (Highly Recommended) sent me to see a blog post with a very interesting and inspiring story. This story crosses several blog posts on several blogs so I want to bring it all together here. It’s a great example of bloggers coming together and supporting each other and it is a story that can’t be shared enough.

The story is about Benny Hsu of Get Busy Living. Benny finally got to the point where he couldn’t take what life had dished out any longer (Read the story Everyone Has A Breaking Point) and instead of giving up he wrote himself a note (get the ebook – Get A Life That Doesn’t Suck) declaring his resolve.

A True Blogging Success Story – Times Two

Benny took the success story of Pat Flynn with Smart Passive Income, another guy that didn’t sit on his hands after being laid off from his job, who developed an online income. Part of the business Pat built included making iPhone apps and that was exactly what Benny was looking for and he ran with it. Proof Bloggers Are Cross Promotion Experts

There you have it, a success story of bloggers helping bloggers. Not only did Benny get inspiration from another blogger’s story (Pats’), there is this incredible story circling several blogs, now at least four that I know of, all sharing inspiration and cross promoting each other’s blog. We have blog posts, an interview, a guest post, and many other bloggers commenting and sharing on the social networks.That’s what I call team work. Who knows how many people this story will help?

I’m glad to be a small part of this community and my list of friends is growing by the day.

    The best part about all this promotion that was going on is that is was all natural and unplanned. Benny shared a screenshot of his app being the featured one. Pat found it worthy of the interview (of course!) and then we just wanted to share away success of a friend.

    It doesn’t leave that lousy taste in your mouth when you see the same group of people promoting each other for no real reason spacer

      My pleasure Brankica, I just appreciate you leading me to the story. I needed to hear something like that and thought it might help others too. You’re right about it being an all natural process, not like some group of marketers putting together a promotional plan. I’m okay with that too but that would hardly be inspirational.

      Thanks Mitch. Like you said, Benny took that step that stops most of us in our tracks, the willingness to invest in ourselves. He deserves a lot of credit for that. It’s true though, everything came into place at the right moment for him. I’m glad he was able to see it and take action.

    Hey Brian, great write up and thanks for mentioning me here! I always think that the blogosphere is a tiny place. Everyone is connected in less than six steps for sure! Might be even half of that.

    Just to clarify Brankica’s story, I had gotten inspired from Pat’s blog about making iPhone apps as something on the side.

    This whole six months I’ve been blogging I’ve read all of his stuff, had quick chats on Twitter, left comments on his FB, and blog. He mentioned a post I wrote about a month
    ago. So he knows who I am.

    Well in that first weekend when my app did great sales, I emailed Pat to say thanks for the inspiration. He wrote back and was happy for me and wanted to mention me in an upcoming post! Of course I said great.

    Yesterday he gave me some questions to answer by email and said he needed it by tomorrow. I said sure! He also asked how things were going. I shared with him about the huge weekend I had. He was super excited to hear that.

    So if I didn’t come across his blog last Oct-Nov 2010, I may not have created an app.

    But along the way I have met so many great people like Brankica, who are doing wonderful things online and truly helping people.

    Blogging wouldn’t be nearly as enjoyable if I didn’t interact with other cool people.

      Thanks for stopping by Benny, I really enjoyed your story and just had to share it. We’ve all been in that spot where we’re wondering if anything will ever break, some of us are still there. It’s very inspiring to see someone we can relate to begin to achieve success. I guess that’s what struck me so hard Benny, I can relate to your story.

      I also wanted to bring it together as a lesson on why we help each other. Sometimes it’s not the one we’re asking to help us that makes the biggest impact; sometimes it’s just a random gesture or compliment that makes the difference. You’re success is very much deserved and I hope it’s just the beginning of a very rewarding online presence.
