Eric Pratum is Director of Digital Strategy at Grizzard Communications Group, a 95+ year old marketing and fundraising firm that focuses specifically on nonprofits. He specializes in social media analytics, SEO, & PPC – both social and keyword-based. Eric is most active on his Twitter account and on Grizzard’s blog, but now and then you will find him posting here about topics that do not fit in 140 characters, do not really apply to nonprofit marketing, and are not better suited to a guest post on some of your favorite blogs.

Where I’ve Been

I have worked for an Angel investing group and RunningShoes.com in Bellingham, Washington; New Balance in Portland, Oregon; Hilton Hotels in Bellevue, Washington; a boutique social media agency in Seattle, Washington; and now Grizzard in Atlanta, Georgia. Additionally, I have been lucky enough to live in Germany twice and Sweden once during my life.

Education

I hold a BA in German and an MBA from Western Washington University and an MA in German from Portland State University.

Work History

I did not realize it until a few years ago, but I’ve worked a lot…a lot a lot. As a kid, I worked as many hours each week as I could – whether I was refereeing soccer matches, teaching swim lessons, or teaching one musical instrument or another. At one point in college, I worked 4 jobs at once and attended school full time. In addition to my full-time work, I have at times consulted, but primarily, I put my time and effort into helping Grizzard’s clients best share their missions and values with their constituencies.

Skills and Experience

At Hilton, I managed two e-commerce websites, so I got to be somewhat adept at maneuvering through Google Analytics and a big, corporate, franchise style website management system. After that while at a social media agency, I worked in social media analytics for some of Seattle’s (and the world’s) biggest tech companies and products, so I would like to think that I have an answer for most questions about measuring or valuing social media. Now, at Grizzard, I manage the Digital Marketing department and focus on integrated online/offline marketing, social media analytics, SEO, & PPC.

Interests and Hobbies

I’m a runner and an off and on musician. At different points in my life, I’ve been a swimmer, a triathlete, a band leader, disc golfer, and an avid reader, but mostly now, I run every day, try to play my guitar when I can squeeze it in, and otherwise, I walk, watch movies, and cook with my beautiful wife.
