About

I love books, particularly fiction. I have a love of words — and language generally. I’m fascinated by how language morphs (particularly technology’s role in that change, it seems).

I’ve been blogging at Word Lily since early 2007. One feature I seem to be known for is “Words from my reading,” in which I highlight and define unknown words I’ve stumbled upon in books. Starting in 2010, I’ve poured lots of hours into the INSPYs, the bloggers’ award for excellence in faith-driven literature. I was also a co-host of Dewey’s 24-hour Read-a-thon for several years.

I read from a wide variety of genres, but I focus somewhat on literary fiction and mysteries. I’m particularly interested in well-written stories at the intersection of life and faith.

Besides all things bookish, I also spend time on fibery pursuits (knitting, crocheting, spinning) and with Maisie, her Old English Sheepdog.

I live, now, in central Nebraska. Work-wise, I have a degree in journalism and newspaper experience. I copy edit on a freelance basis. I work part-time for a Christian nonprofit, as content editor.
