I'm typically not an SUV person... I, from the moment I became engaged couldn't wait to become a minivan mom. {Yet, I'm still not a minivan mom!}
If you aren't the minivan type but need more space you may opt for an SUV.
I recently had the opportunity to review and learn a little more about the 2012 Honda CR-V.
The new CR-V comes with a more sleek and sophisticated body style which is more aerodynamically efficient.
New for the 2012 Honda CR-V
• More efficient engine design with improved horsepower and torque
• Available Real Time AWD with Intelligent Control System™
• New-for-2012 standard features include an Easy Fold-Down 60/40 Split Rear Seat, Eco Assist™, Expanded View Driver’s Mirror and Motion-Adaptive Electric Power Steering (EPS)
• New-for-2012 features include intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID), Pandora internet radio interface, SMS text messaging function, and available DVD Rear Entertainment System and FM Traffic
Front Seats
Having a sedan and two children that are still in car seats, space is always an issue when traveling. So, an entry level SUV would be a great option to consider if looking for a new vehicle.
The kids and car seats would fit with ease into the second row, while luggage, groceries, etc... are simply loaded into the cargo area.
ECON Mode
CR-V Safety Summary
• Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure
• Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with traction control
• 4-wheel disc ABS, Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist
• Dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags with rollover sensor
• Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH) system in second-row outboard seats
• Pedestrian injury mitigation design in the front of the vehicle
This not-an-SUV-person would totally consider the CR-V if looking to purchase a new vehicle.

The new model takes on a more aggressive stance with deeper sculpting of the body lines and a bolder front fascia, highlighted by a horizontal three-bar grille and deeply set multi-reflector headlights.

Front Seats
For 2012, the front seats of the CR-V have been completely redesigned with a more supportive seat construction, structure and padding. The seats are now wider with more supportive side bolsters that give the seats a secure feel particularly when cornering. The driver’s seat height adjustability range has been increased by 0.4-inch and the driving position now has a more car-like orientation, even though the driver’s vantage point above the road and commanding view is essentially unchanged.

...because who can resist Matthew Broderick?
ECON Mode
All CR-V models are equipped with an ECON button on the left side of the dashboard as part of the Eco Assist™ system. When activated, ECON mode alters the Drive-by-Wire throttle system response curve in the range from about 10 percent of pedal movement to 80 percent. With less gain, the throttle opening in this range increases more gradually to reduce a potentially excessive peak input for better fuel efficiency. ECON mode also alters the operation of the cruise control system and the air conditioning system, allowing for slightly increased variances with the set speed or the set temperature in order to conserve fuel whenever possible.
